Title: The Lord Who Lights Our Eyes

Bible: Numbers 22:21-30 (1-35)

Starting Point of the Word>>

This time, we would like to share our talk with the title of “Jehovah Opens Our Eyes”.

According to today's text, the Israelites who left Egypt lived in the plains of Moab for a long time before crossing the Jordan River with the land of Canaan in front of them.

But when the Israelites entered the land of Moab, the Moabites could not welcome them.

These Moabites are the descendants of Abraham's nephew Lot after he was raised in Sodom and had an inappropriate relationship with his eldest daughter.

They have always had an uncomfortable relationship with Israel.

There was a king in that land of Moab, whose name was King Balak.

King Balak had already heard the news that the Israelites had slaughtered the Amorites horribly.

So, it seems that military force could not be defeated, and while thinking about what to do, I came up with a plan, which is to summon “Balaam,” who was a famous prophet at the time, and ask him to curse Israel.

So he sent and asked the prophet Balaam.

However, this Balaam did not simply refuse, but said that he would pray one night and one night.

If we look at verse 8,

“And Balaam said to them, Stay here tonight, and I will answer you as the LORD says to me. The nobles of Moab lodged in Balaam.”

But I prayed one night and God told me not to go and not to curse the people.

This is verse 12 of the text.

“God said to Balaam, “Do not go with them, nor curse their people, for they are the blessed.”

Finally, the next morning, Balak's servants returned to their land, saying they couldn't go.

However, King Balak did not give up and sent a nobleman of higher rank to request.

Even then, Balaam should have refused the request in one word, but he told us to wait to find out the will of God.

Then, knowing that Balaam's heart was already possessed by greed, God conditionally allowed him to go.

If our eyes are dark, we will eventually follow the world's lusts, and those greed will lead us to death.

I hope this will be a time to listen to God's word that opens our dark eyes through this time of day.

Go to Word>>

What, then, is the problem with our eyes due to darkness?

First, if our eyes are dark, we distort the will of God and bring judgment upon ourselves.

Balaam could see that what King Balak had asked him to do was not what his office could do.

Still, the reason I ask God's will is because I am obsessed with material greed and honor for glory.

We see a lot of things that we don't give up easily even though we know it can't be done.

God's will is very clear.

In fact, there are so many things we can know without even praying.

Still, the reason I try to pray with regret is actually because of covetousness and greed.

It is said that we pray to God even though we are well aware of the consequences of our work.

He already made a decision in his heart and said he would pray.

They say that they will pray even after making a match with the leader.

Do you know why?

Because he still cannot give up his greed.

It is also because of the pride of my heart, wondering if my stubbornness could break the will of God.

But folks, this is our mistake.

As I said at dawn yesterday, ‘wearing is free. But you are responsible for it.”

We must realize that trying to distort God's will is Satan's scheme to make us lose our lives as slaves to sin.

Second, if our eyes are dark, we can kick the ass that is trying to save us.

Balaam's eyes were already blinded by covetousness.

In the end, God allowed it, so I get up early in the morning, saddle my donkey, and go with the Moabite nobles.

Then an angel of God appeared to block the way.

He draws a sword and holds it in his hand, blocking the way.

But the donkey carrying Balaam saw the angel of the Lord, but Balaam could not.

How could this happen?

Even the humble donkey sees the angels of God, but not the servants of God.

Balaam, who did not see God, beat the donkey, but the donkey, who saw the angel of God, could not pass through the road.

Eventually, the donkey strays off the road.

If you keep going, your master will die.

Still, Balaam whips him, saying, “Is this donkey crazy?”

Then I entered a narrow road blocked by walls on the left and right.

The donkey rubs against the wall, and Balaam's foot is injured.

Then he whips and kicks the donkey's belly.

Still, the donkey is trying to escape the angel of the Lord, but now it is unavoidable.

Then the donkey falls down.

Now Balaam was furious.

Now hit the donkey with the staff.

Then God opens the donkey's mouth and lets him speak.

If we look at verse 28 of the text,

“And the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and he said to Balaam, What have I done to you that you strike me three times like this?”

Then Balaam cried out.

This is verse 29.

“Because you have rebelled against me, if I had a sword in my hand, I would have killed you right away.”

We have something to think about here.

That is, the spiritual eyes, that is, the eyes of faith and the eyes of faith, were darkened, so they could not see the will of God.

Whose figure is this, trying to go down that road without knowing how to die?

Also, I and you, who are kicking the donkey because they don't know how it feels to save her life, say they shouldn't go, but if they are going because of greed, I ask you to turn around quickly in the name of the Lord.

Don't just kick the people and family around you who are helping to save your life, you need to turn around now.

Third, if our eyes are dark, we may be put to shame by the creatures.

Even animals do not become greedy when they are full.

However, human greed and covetousness have no limits.

However, if you are still possessed by greed and covetousness, you will eventually suffer from the creatures.

The prophet Balaam in today's text is also rebuked by a donkey.

Today, God opens the mouth of the donkey to make the prophet Balaam understand.

This is verse 30 of the text.

“The donkey said to Balaam, am I not the donkey you have ridden all your life to this day? Have I ever had a habit of doing this to you?”

says the donkey.

Human beings in the image of God are rebuked by the creatures they are supposed to rule.

So are we today.

The creatures around us mourn for our sins.

If we deviate from God's will, we should be able to hear the voices rebuking us now.

We are spiritual beings.

Therefore, we must live while enjoying the blessings that God has given us.

In the name of the Lord, I ask that you, in the name of the Lord, be not the saints who are insulted by creation like Balaam today, but rather be praised by God.

Fourth, when God blocks our way like this, we must repent and turn away quickly.

God even mobilizes angels to block the saints who are going the way God does not want them to go.

Still, if you persist, you may end up like Balaam.

But the results are so disastrous.

In Balaam's last years, he went and tried to curse King Balak, but God forced him to bless Israel through Balaam's mouth.

Then in the end, in Numbers 31:8, he was executed together with the Israelites when they executed the kings of Midian.

It's a wretched thing to say.

I had to turn around when I was told not to go, and when an angel of God stopped me.

Then this tragedy would not have occurred.

The eyes of our spirit must be opened.

God wants our eyes to be opened, and He opens our eyes.

At the end of the speech>>

Organize your words.

It is a blessing for us when God blocks our way, when he says don't.

Sometimes it seems that our way is blocked and unsolved, but please remember that there is definitely a different will of God.

God opens our eyes so we can see His will.

Today, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become precious and blessed saints in God's plan of glory according to God's will in our lives.
