Bible: Romans 12:1-5
Title: mountain priest
Paul spoke of the sinfulness of human life, that God gave Jesus Christ as the means of salvation, and that salvation was applied experientially in the Holy Spirit.
And with the fact that the fulfillment of all these salvations is only the result of God's selective love, we end up to Chapter 11, and now from Chapter 12, the word 'therefore' begins with the word 'therefore', because we are the saints who have been saved. I'm trying to teach you what form is.
I would like to understand the life of the saints with the theme of the living sacrifice in verse 1.
1. Living Sacrifice is the Restoration of Worshipful Humanity
If you look at the history of the Bible for the cause of your life's separation from God, you will be rejected while trying to live your life as you please, escaping from worshiping God properly, that is, obedience to God.
In the Old Testament, we see that those who received blessings and prospered were those who worshiped God well. If worshiping God was unfaithful and hypocritical, God's punishment came.
God sent Jesus Christ in the New Testament, and now, in the faith of Jesus, it has been changed to the form of sacrificing the Lord and worshiping God in the name of Christ. And the restoration of the lost paradise, that is, the way of life in heaven, is worshiping God, and Revelation shows the church in heaven that worships (Revelation 4:)
Therefore, those who do not enjoy worship are those who do not have the will to go to heaven. Christianity is not a culture for the world, but a place where we regain the spirit of worshiping God.
When it is said that he has been saved, he is bound to enjoy worshiping God, and he will consider it faithful and precious.
1“Therefore, brethren, I beseech you by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
The Greek word for body is sw'ma (soma), which means the body of a person or animal, which means you yourself (yourselves), that is, a person as a person.
When it comes to living sacrifices, the word “living” here, zavw, means a way of living.
“A living sacrifice is a life lived with a heart and a center for God restored through faith in Jesus Christ.”
Of course, there are regular or private worship services that serve as a sign of Christian life and allow the spiritual breathing of the community in meetings, but what we are talking about in the text refers to the faithful life itself through the way of life.
Romans 6:19 “Because your flesh is feeble, I speak according to the manner of men, as in the past you presented your members to uncleanness and lawlessness, resulting in lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in holiness.”
God has repeatedly said in the Old Testament that He wants us to be the center of worship.
1 Samuel 15:22 "Samuel said, "Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and other sacrifices, as the obedience of his voice?"
Psalm 69:30-31 “I will sing praises to the name of God, and with thanksgiving I will say, ‘God is great.
Hosea 14:2 "Take the word and return to the LORD, and say, Take away all unrighteousness, and receive what is good, and with our lips we will offer to you in place of the bull."
The worshipful life as a life, he said, is a holy spiritual worship offered to God. In the original text, the word spiritual worship was used as a word to be reasonable (KJV), not as spiritual (NIV) as we often remember.
In English, it is translated as reasonable service, which means worshiping with right judgment without getting drunk. That is to say, we are offering healthy and upright worship. It means worship in the right spirit, not the hypocrisy of the Jews or the ignorance of unbelievers.
2. Living differently from the view of world history is a living sacrifice
If you believe in Jesus, as soon as you know God, the Creator of heaven and earth, you will be able to properly understand the history of this world and discern the right values.
This is a characteristic of the saints. It is the spirit of an unregenerate person that a person who believes in Jesus does not discriminate in God's will about the passing of the world.
2“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
This generation is called aijwvn, and it refers to the age of the secular world without God. Specifically, the meaning of this text refers to a life of secularism dominated by the devil, who holds the power of the air.
Ephesians 5:17 “Therefore do not be fools, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Because the people of the world know the history of this world as a time when they are thrown away without any regrets along with their own death, they simply go on living without realizing the value of life at all.
However, since believers have the kingdom of eternal life that follows after death, understanding this world is different from non-believers.
What must we do to change our hearts according to the will of the Lord, see the world differently, and live according to the good and perfect will of God?
Because the values of life are different and we fundamentally understand the world through the ideology of God's rule, the right and right way is the life of faith through Jesus Christ and the completeness of the biblical life is the motto of our life philosophy.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be perfected for every good work Inira”.
The values of our world cannot be the correct truth because our philosophy is changeable and cannot cover the history of the world.
The 2,000-year history of Christianity has changed the values of the world and showed the history of leading the spiritual and material culture. It proves that the biblical life is the world God has given us.
For the sake of the perfect will of God, the Bible must be studied, believed, understood, and searched daily. The fact that we have been transformed in Christ is a volitional decision and a change of perception that makes our life motto the Bible.
Where can you know the will of God? There should not be any disappointments that often claim to be heretics or to live an absurd life claiming that it has been revealed. Even if the power is revealed, even the prophet who performed lawlessness, that is, miracles that do not do God's will, will be rejected.
Matthew 7:22 “On that day many will say to me, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and perform many mighty works in your name?”
Matthew 7:23-24 “At that time I will say to them plainly, “I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.” 24 Therefore whoever hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. "Lini," he said.
3. He is a priest who is faithful according to his ability.
Among the things that people in the world live wrongly, they are stressed or have an accident because they try to live in the world with excessive self-evaluation beyond their own abilities.
3 “By the grace given to me, I say to each one of you, do not think more than you ought to think, but think wisely according to the measure of faith that God has given you.”
For a person to live a life proper to God and live a life of worship well, it is to know one's own fraction. This is very important. It is very important to take care of your own abilities and talents.
In the text, the word to think wisely is swfronevw, which means the ability to judge with a clear mind and not drunkenness. In English, it is called sober judgment.
In Greek philosophy, this wisdom means humility. It means not to be overconfident of your own arrogance, but to act according to your own abilities with a humble heart.
Romans 11:20 “Yes, because they did not believe, they were broken, but because they believed, you stood up. Do not be lofty, but be afraid.”
In verse 6 and below of this chapter, we now recommend that you use your abilities according to your various gifts.
6 “Each one has different gifts according to the grace given to us. If it is a prophecy, it is according to the fraction of our faith.”
1 Corinthians 12:4 “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit”
1 Corinthians 12:7 “For to each one the manifestation of the Holy Spirit is given for profit.”
1 Corinthians 12:11 “All these things are done by one and the same Spirit, who distributes them to each one according to his will.”
Ephesians 4:11 “And he gave as an apostle, or as a prophet, or as an evangelist, or as a pastor or teacher, 12 to equip the saints for the work of service, for the building up of the body of Christ.” .
Being a member of the church cannot be a life of a sacrificial life unconditionally. Living arrogantly without knowing one's own abilities or being lazy without using the talents God has given is not a living sacrifice.
We are God's chosen people. If you are a saint of God, you will have to live according to the philosophy of the life of the saint.
Although the Holy Spirit will guide you well, the church must first learn to serve faithfully with wisdom and humility if those who have been teachers before teach teach. If the church fights humanly as a social custom and blood appears, it is not a living sacrifice.
You don't even get that worship just because you worship it. Right worship is to give thanks in a symbolic way in public worship while living with the heart of becoming a living sacrifice first in your life.
This precious exhortation to offer a living sacrifice is blessed advice only for those who have become Christians, and it is the central word in the lives of those who have met God. I pray that you and I will become a living sacrifice to the Lord in your life and in the form of worship, offering a sacrifice to the dead and showing the Christian character that contrasts with the unbeliever who lives in the dead.
