Title: The One My Father Gave Me (Salvation)

Text: John 6:37-51

Sermon: Yang Yirae Kang

I would like to share the grace with the word “the one the Father has given me”.

Background and context of the text

All that the Father gives me will come to me.

37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will by no means cast out. The one that the Father gave me! refers to the person God the Father predestined to save before the foundation of the world. That person believes in Jesus! And I will never cast him out! It is the word that guarantees the eternity of salvation.

38 I did not come down from heaven to do my will, but to do the will of him who sent me. The sky here is called Uranus! in Greek. points to heaven. What did Jesus come down from heaven? It refers to the event in which God, the Spirit, was born as a human being. But why did you come? To do the will of him who sent me! He says he has come. The will of the Father is to give up his only begotten Son on the cross for the salvation of the elect. It is to lead the total number of salvation who is determined to give eternal life to the kingdom of God. Therefore, on the day the Father's work of salvation ends, the world will be judged.

Verse 39 This is the will of him who sent me, that I should not lose any of those who have given me, but raise them up on the last day. The Father's will is to save without losing a single one of the elect included in the original number that he predestined to be saved. And on the day when the Lord comes again, like the resurrected body of Jesus, we will be resurrected to the resurrection of life and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Verse 40 “For my Father’s will is that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” Jesus explains the truth of salvation over and over again. My Father's will is to see and believe in Jesus and have eternal life! Those who believe in me! I will raise them up! It is said to be resurrected. The Lord puts great emphasis on the word “I will raise you up”. This is a promise that He will surely resurrect those who believe in Jesus through the resurrection of life.

41 The Jews murmured about Jesus, saying, “He is the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph? Jesus' insight was correct. The great crowd did not believe in Jesus according to the Bible. So I'm gossiping. You are Joseph's son Jesus! Are you not? Do we know those parents? Says. In short, your father is Joseph and your mother is Mary! You are his son Jesus! So you are not the bread of life that came down from heaven!

43 Jesus answered and said to them, "Do not murmur amongst you. 44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day. When God declared that he was born as a man and that I am the bread of life that came down from heaven! I couldn't understand the words of Jesus, so I muttered. Jesus again preaches the truth of salvation with the same words. Unless your father leads you!! Without the guidance of God the Father, no one can “come to me” and believe in me! But a big crowd! If any of you come to me and believe, I I am Jesus!! I will raise you up on the last day! The last day here is called Escatehemera! in Greek, which refers to the time of the end of the world, the time of God's final judgment on good and evil, the day of the second coming of Jesus Christ. He promises that Jesus will rise again the third time!!! He will resurrect those who believe!

45 For in the words of the prophets they shall all be taught by God, as it is written, Everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to me.

You are quoting the Old Testament words of Isaiah 54:13, “All your children shall receive instruction from the Lord.” Those who have been chosen by the Father will first hear the word of God, learn it, and understand it through the Holy Spirit so that they can believe in Jesus and be saved. Regarding the ignorance of the great crowd, if you understand and believe the teachings of the Bible, the evidence from the Old Testament is that you will believe in Jesus! In other words, he is pointing out that there is no word that the Old Testament testifies to in the faith of the great crowd.

46. This does not mean that no one has seen the Father, but only those who are from God have seen the Father. A sinner who sees God with his own eyes will die immediately. The great crowd of Jews knew this all too well. To them, the Lord says, “I have seen God the Father!” and is testifying that he is 100% human and 100% God, completely different from sinners.

Verse 47 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life, verse 48, I am the bread of life. While emphasizing the truth of salvation, truly, truly! Believers have eternal life!! If you believe in Jesus, you already have eternal life!! This is the gospel. Good news. It is our hope, our joy, our eternal hope. Verse 48: That hot potato that the great crowd roared!! I am the bread of life!! He proclaims the truth of salvation again.

49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, but they died; 50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that no one can eat it and die.

The delicious food that the Jewish ancestors ate also came down from heaven, and Jesus Himself also came down from heaven. If you eat Jesus??? That is, if you believe It is said that we do not die like our ancestors. The Bible says that after believing in Jesus and being saved, the dead sleep! Why? It is because Jesus will rise and enter the kingdom of heaven through the resurrection of life on the last day according to the promise of Jesus.

51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. The bread I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.

Jesus is the living bread. If a person eats this bread, he will live forever. If you believe in Jesus, you will be saved! This bread is given by Jesus. I say!! I am the world's savior

Dear fellow classmates

Jesus is God! Jesus is the Bread of Life! If you believe in Jesus now, you have eternal life! Jesus Christ! If you believe, you will come back to life as a resurrected body on the last day and enter heaven with the Lord! He testified that only those whom the Father gave me!! have realized and believed in this truth of salvation and have been saved! Only those who belong to God the Father's plan of salvation can believe in Jesus, the Bread of Life. Only with the guidance of God the Father can we believe in Jesus, the bread of salvation.

application and practice

We saw the unbelief of a great crowd. Their biggest problem is that they do not understand the words of Jesus. Of course, we also realize that the premise of the truth that sinners are saved! is the election of God the Father, but the Messiah promised by the great crowd through the revelations of the Old Testament! In other words, they do not know the Messiah that the Bible testifies, so even if the Messiah was born as a real person as prophesied and testified in front of his eyes, it is the bread of life!! Jesus!! They did not believe in the truth of salvation.
