Title: The One The Lord Is Looking For!
Jesus not only came to save sinners, but also came to seek the lost as in today's text. A lost person is nothing other than a person who has lost his heart and wants to do well towards God, but the surrounding environment, that is, the situation does not allow, the problem of eating and living is an immediate stumbling block. This is a term used to describe a person who has been living with a heart, but now that the circumstances have been granted to some extent, he is looking for an opportunity, and at the same time, the voice of God is heard through the Son of God, and he comes to God with everything he has.
Zacchaeus, who appears in today's text, can be said to be one of those people. If we look at the fundamental basis of this interest, we can see that he did not act contrary to the law by intentionally trying to distance himself from God. Had he deliberately tried to distance himself from God, he would never have climbed the sycamore tree to see Jesus. The fact that he climbed the sycamore tree to see Jesus shows that he was living his life without ever being able to shake off his apologetic heart toward God. Judging by this fact, Zacchaeus is a person who chose the reality that was unfolding before his eyes rather than living in the reality (Roman rule) in which the situation at the time was unavoidable (Roman rule). So, it can be said that he was a person who lived by revealing the essence of human beings (desire to live well) without hiding it. At first, he would have chosen such a profession because he thought he could do anything if he made money. However, after earning a certain amount of money, he realized that there were things that human beings could not buy even with money.
Although he may have made a lot of money by forsaking the strict law and living a life tainted with the world, he regretted leaving the bosom of God belatedly, but under the law without forgiveness he could never return to the bosom of God. will be. Then, hearing rumors of a Messiah appearing and going about this and that, he mustered up the courage to find out what kind of person he was, and he went from far away (because his actions were too filthy and dirty to see him up close). He had already climbed the mulberry tree for several hours to see him, predicting the road he would take, and avoiding people's eyes even a little to see him. Jesus, who recognized his situation with the almighty power of God, correctly called out the name of Zacchaeus, who was on the mulberry tree, and ordered him to come down from the mulberry tree quickly, saying, “You must stay at your house today.
