Title: The One Who Came to Witness
Contents
As Matthew quotes Isaiah 40:3 (3:3), John the Baptist is the one in charge of “preparing the way of the Lord, and leveling his path by the voice of one crying in the wilderness” (Isaiah 3:3).
John the Baptist said that he was not the Messiah, but came to prepare the way for the Messiah to come. It shows that he is the one who strives so that the people of the Lord can welcome the Messiah when he comes.
So, those who are sent by God can find the work to be done.
First, the one sent by God is the witness.
In verses 6 and 7, those sent by God testify, and what they testify about is that they testify of the true light, and that everyone may believe because of his testimony. That is why, when we call those who are sent, we are called witnesses. We are called to bear witness to the truth of God and that Christ is the only Savior and Light of the world.
Second, who is the witness? This title applies to all Christians today. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). admit. All who have confessed to God and the Lord Jesus must be witnesses of the gospel.
3. What does the witness testify?
We testify of the works of the Lord Jesus Christ (v. 9). Jesus Christ is all spiritual light, bringing life and growth to all things, beauty and strength. Therefore, we testify that we can obtain all these things through Jesus Christ.
Romans 1:19-21 speaks well of the condition of sinners. It is said, “The heart of foolishness was darkened even though something that could be known of God appeared in them. That is, they deliberately rejected God. They intentionally blind their eyes to God and say that there is no God.
But whether people see it or not, Jesus Christ is the light of life that shines upon the world. We must testify that only in the Lord Jesus can sinners have light and life.
4. The grace of those who have received (received) evidence
A privilege is given to all who receive Christ and believe in Him. It is the authority to become a child of God (verses 12, 13).
Although most people did not accept the gospel of Jesus Christ, some Jews and Gentiles accepted Jesus as the Lord of life. So they were given eternal life, and they were given the authority to become children of God. In other words, Jesus Christ accepted them as the Father's children and recognized them as his own brothers and sisters. It also means that at the wedding banquet of the Lamb, he recognized him as his bride.
It should be remembered that this privilege is granted to all who have received Christ by faith and who believe and follow Jesus as the one directing their lives.
Gentlemen, we are witnesses sent by God into this world.
It is the witness that shines Jesus, who is the light of life, to those who are trapped in darkness.
This job is not something that anyone else can do for you. it's up to the individual Therefore, we must seek the heart of the Lord. We must save the heart of the Lord who had to give up the glory of heaven and come to this earth.
That is why we must shine the light of the gospel to those who are in darkness and do not realize their folly. Before God's eternal judgment day approaches, we must strive to become those who have eternal life, and we must build the life of those who prepare the way for the Lord to come again.
