Title: The Opportunity of Salvation
2012.3.4 Sunday morning service sermon
Bible: Luke 16:27-31 (19-31)
Title: Opportunity of Salvation
Luke 16:27-31 ‘27. Then he said, "Father, I beg you, send Lazarus to my father's house, 28. I have five brothers, and let them bear witness, so that they do not come to this place of torment." 29 Abraham said, "They have Moses and the prophets. listen to them,
30. He said, “No, Father Abraham, if anyone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.” 31 And he said, “If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.” ' - Amen.
1. Both the rich and the beggars die
The world is always a place where the rich and the poor live together.
Proverbs 22:2 “The rich and poor live together, but the LORD is their Maker.”
But, rich and beggar, all life is destined to die.
Romans 6:23 “The wages of sin is death.”
Hebrews 9:27 “It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”
Christian economics
Povertyism: Is only the poor clean? - More crime in the slums.
Contractualism: Are Wealth a Blessing? - Mostly a blessing, not everyone.
Being rich is not a blessing.
1 Timothy 6:10 “The love of money is the root of all evil, and those who long for it have been deceived and have erred from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.
Daegu, father and mother died at Paldal Market - Death with a bundle of money in both hands.
- The shroud worn on the body has no pockets and covers all hands.
After death, that's the problem.
2. Conditions of the Other World
Lazarus is Abraham's bosom (Paradise) The rich are in the midst of fire
The rich man was in the midst of the fire. thirsty => There is no thirst in the world
1) In the other world, there is a big hole between them that cannot go back and forth.
26 “Not only that, but there was a great gulf between you and us, that they wanted to cross over to you from here, but they could not, and they could not pass from there to us.”
2) It is a series of worries (for the five brothers in this world)
27-28 "Then he said, "Father, then, I beg you, send Lazarus to my father's house, and I have five brothers, so that they may testify, so that they do not come to this place of torment."
- Suicide doesn't make you forget your worries. Suicide is a myth.
(( A friend of mine died of jaundice while he was young in Iran to earn money.
I will believe after I am discharged from the military, I will earn money to believe... Then I died.
-- He appeared in a dream to save his family and said that he died))
3) The chance of salvation ends in life.
29-30 "Abraham said, "They have Moses and the prophets, and listen to them." He said, "It is not so. Father Abraham, if anyone goes to them from the dead, they will repent." - This is a misunderstanding.
The most important message of salvation in the text is verse 31.
31 “They said, ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”
Even if you go to another world, you will not be able to repent.
Salvation comes only when you hear the word and repent while you live in this world.
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
