Title: The Perfect Christ / John 2:23-25
The text is just a summary written like an epilogue after Jesus cleansed the temple, but if you look closely, it shows that there is a huge gap between man and God.
It's unlikely, but do you know what we're most likely to believe in when war breaks out in our current state?
Even if you put a lot of money in the bank, war not only turns everything into pieces of paper, and inflation may cause a bag of ramen to cost 10,000 won, and then the value of money becomes irrelevant. Not only that, real estate also means that houses are destroyed and land cannot be taken away, and the most important thing at that time is gold. So, gold will replace cash. The main reason is that gold does not change, and its value is reliable.
Today's text is a text that shows just that. There is a huge difference between Jesus Christ and human beings, and I want to think about it this time.
1. a person's heart
(John 2:23) ... Many believed in his name when they saw the signs he was doing.
(John 2:24) Jesus did not entrust his body to them, for he himself knew all men (John 2:25) and because he knew what was in men...
Obviously, the text tells us that many people saw and believed the signs of Jesus.
But why didn't the Lord entrust his body to us?
It's because you know humans.
1) The universal sin of mankind
(Ecclesiastes 7:20) There is not a righteous man in the world who does good and does not sin.
(Romans 3:23) For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
(Romans 3:10) As it is written, There is none righteous, not even one.
(Romans 3:11) There is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.
(Romans 3:12) All have turned aside, and one thing has become useless; there is no one who does good, not even one.
(Romans 3:13) Their throats are open graves, their tongues practice deceit, and the poison of vipers is on their lips.
(Romans 3:14) His mouth was full of curses and bitterness.
(Romans 3:15) His feet are swift to shed blood.
(Romans 3:16) Destruction and trouble are in their way
(Romans 3:17) They did not know the way of peace.
(Romans 3:18) As it is said that there is no fear of God before their eyes.
*** Man's Evil Progression Order ***
a. Not seeking God b. The sin of words c. The sin of deeds
*** The consequences of man's evil ***
a. ruin and suffering
(Proverbs 24:20) For the evildoer has no future, and the lamp of the wicked goes out.
b. no peace
(Numbers 6:26) The LORD will turn his face upon you, and say, ‘Peace be upon you.
(Proverbs 6:16) There are six things that the LORD hates, that is, there are six things that are detestable in his heart.
(Proverbs 6:17) Haughty eyes, and a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
(Proverbs 6:18) A heart that devises evil schemes, and feet that quickly run to evil,
(Proverbs 6:19) A false witness who speaks lies, and a dissension among brothers.
(Matthew 15:19) For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, fornication, theft, false witness, blasphemy.
2) This is because man is born in sin, lives in sin, and then dies.
(Psalm 51:5) I was born in iniquity; in sin my mother conceived me.
Man is born with original sin because of Adam's transgression, so he starts from sin, lives in sin, and then dies.
3) The inclination and incurability of sin
(Romans 7:15) I do not know what I do; I do not do what I want.
Rather, it is doing what you hate.
(Romans 7:18) I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; the desire is in me, but to do good is not.
(Romans 7:24) O wretched man I am; who will deliver me from this body of death?
Therefore, the natural man cannot be freed from the inclination to sin.
When the Jews left Egypt and saw the power of God, they met God on Mount Sinai.
(Exodus 20:18) And all the people saw thunders and lightnings, the sound of trumpet sounds, and the smoke of the mountain. When they saw them, they trembled and said to Moses from afar (Exodus 20:19), "Speak to us, and we will hear. to
Don't tell me, lest we die.
But within a few weeks, they came to Aaron and
(Exodus 32:1) The people ... gathered together and came to Aaron, saying, Arise, for us a god who will guide us.
Make it, for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, does not know what has become of it.
That is why they made the image (golden calf) of Apis or Hador that they knew in Egypt.
2. Human evidence
(John 2:25) ... it is not necessary to take any witness against man.
What about human evidence? The world we live in today is an age of distrust. Among them, the most unbelievable is human words and evidence. Now, another few years later, we will have an election, and sometimes we don't know whether the election is for good or good-natured liars.
the bible
(Exodus 20:16) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
But there is nothing unbelievable as we say.
(Matthew 5:33) And it was said to the old man, “You shall not swear in vain, but keep your oath to the Lord.”
that you have heard
(Matthew 5:34) I tell you, do not swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God (Matthew 5:35) nor by earth, for it is God's footstool; neither by Jerusalem nor by Jerusalem, for it is the throne of God. Ordained (Matthew 5:36) Not with your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
(Mat 5:37) But say what you say is right, right, no, no, for anything that goes beyond this is of evil.
Jesus told us not to swear at all.
(Proverbs 14:15) A fool believes every word, but a prudent man refrains from his actions.
(Proverbs 16:28) A cowardly man stirs up quarrels, and a talker separates close friends
(Proverbs 18:8) The words of those who love to talk are like snacks, and they go down to the depths of their stomach.
(Proverbs 17:27) He who is sparing his words has knowledge, and he who is humble in spirit has understanding.
3. The omniscience of Jesus
(John 2:24) ... He knows all people (John 2:25) And because He knows what is in a person ...
(1 Kings 8:39) In heaven where you dwell, Hears and forgives, and you know the heart of each one, and do according to all your deeds and repay you.
is confessing that
1) that knowledge
(Romans 11:33) Deep is the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God; His judgments are beyond measure, and His ways are beyond finding.
(Isaiah 40:12) Who has counted the waters of the sea with their palms, and measured the heavens with their spans, and have weighed the dust of the earth in a bowl, and have weighed mountains by name and small mountains by name?
(Isaiah 40:13) Who has guided the Spirit of the Lord, and has been his counselor and has taught him?
(Isa 40:1 4) With whom did he counsel, and with whom did he teach him, and teach him in the way of fairness, and teach him knowledge, and show him the way of mastery?
(Isaiah 40:15) Behold, to him the nations are like a drop of water in a barrel, the scales are like dust, and the islands are like dust that rises.
(Isa 40:16) The beasts of Lebanon will not be enough for a burnt offering, and their forests will not be enough for their peace offering (Isa 40:17) All the nations will be nothing before him, and he will make them empty and empty.
here you are
(Isaiah 40:18) Then with whom do you say that God is like, and to what image do you compare him?
2) That wisdom
(Psalm 147:4) He counts the number of the stars, and calls them all by name.
(Psalm 147:5) Our Lord is vast and mighty, and his wisdom is limitless.
(Jeremiah 51:15) By his power the LORD formed the earth, by his wisdom he established the world, and by his understanding he stretched out the heavens.
3) That truth
(Psalm 33:4) The word of the LORD is upright, and all his deeds are truthful.
*** conclusion ***
Knowing that the only way to purify man's sinful disposition is to believe in the all-powerful, omnipotent and infallible God, let's do our best to believe in and follow the Lord, and thereby cast off the bondage of our sins.
As a believer in words, let us speak beautiful words that are useful for our faith.
(James 3:2) We all make many mistakes, and if anyone makes no mistakes in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle even his whole body.
