a person who cools the heart 2
1 Corinthians 16:15-18 2009. 7. 15. Wednesday Worship Sermon
The apostle Paul wanted to see ‘Stephana, Petnatus, and Achagus’ in today’s text.
He praises Paul and the saints for refreshing their hearts.
What's the secret to how these people cool the hearts of others?
1. Because it brought joy to Paul.
Here Stephana refreshed Paul's heart by giving him great rewards.
2. Because they were people who were determined to serve the saints. (verse 15)
The work of service, serving is the purpose of the saint's life, the purpose of Jesus' life, and our life. “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45).
He said, “I am among you as one who serves” (Luke 22:27).
But Stephana said, “I am determined to serve the saints.”
When I meet a selfish person who only cares for myself, I do not want to meet him because he is tired.
But the one who serves brings joy, vitality, and coolness to others.
Those who are determined to continue to think and serve the Church give peace of mind.
Seeing that Stephana had decided to serve the saints, the heart of the apostle Paul must have been infinitely happy.
A nurse named Nightingale, known worldwide for saving many people while sacrificing herself on the battlefield, was given a plaque from the King of England.
“People can help others with material things. Words can help when material is not available. When neither material nor words are available, tears can help
That's right. When we say we serve others, it is not just material things.
It is possible to serve with just one really gentle word, with a heart, no tears, with earnest prayer.
I pray in the name of the Lord that I will be able to live as a servant always like this.
3. It is said that he refreshed the heart of the Apostle Paul because he made up for what he lacked (verse 17).
To fill in the shortcomings/ means to fill in the external shortcomings such as material deprivation, and/or it also means to fill in the inner shortcomings such as faith, hope, and love.
We are saved.
Although we have received life-saving salvation, the soteriology of Christianity is the whole person salvation (hall person).
This holistic salvation will be fully realized only when Jesus returns.
Therefore, although we have been saved, we are all lacking because it is not yet complete.
Pastors do their work, but they are not enough.
Therefore, we can accomplish the will of Christ only when we complement and supplement each other.
When they first come to church, they think that the church will be full of people who resemble Jesus, so there are many cases where new family members who register for the church are disappointed and return.
I actually came and experienced it, and I'm 10 miles away from Jesus, so is it fun to come to church?
It is disappointing and returning.
When evaluating the church today, when evaluating the person of Jesus and the teachings of Jesus, how many people will receive a passing score from the church based on that standard?
Perhaps there are many people who are worse than the general people of the world because people who are not treated as people in the world came to church because they were moved by God's love.
Therefore, we feel the need to complement each other, to help each other, and to work together.
Ladies and gentlemen, if we do not help each other and cooperate, no one will be able to bear full fruit in God's work.
This is a common saying in LA or New York.
A Jew runs a fish shop.
It has been running successfully for a long time, and it is said that if a Korean-Korean fisherman opens a fish shop next to it, the face of a Jew will be crushed.
Because Koreans are much more diligent.
I can't beat Koreans because I wake up early in the morning and work hard until late at night.
So I worry.
However, when another Korean-Chinese fisherman opens a fish store next to a Jewish restaurant, the Jewish face changes.
Do you know why? Because Koreans like to compete.
If you fight with each other like price competition, PR competition, and so on, you will end up selling a loss.
Because of this, I am well aware that both households will eventually fail and close their doors at the same time.
If we do not help each other, do not cooperate with each other, and do not supplement each other, we can end up ruining each other together.
Why did God allow couples to live together?
He made men and women become one so that they could help each other and fill each other's shortcomings.
Man cannot be perfect alone. Alone is not enough.
God made it that way.
It was created by God to live with someone's help/ helping someone.
Therefore/ we must live together to make up for each other's shortcomings...
At home, at church, or at work, if you see someone else’s lack of ability/ ‘Oh, that person can’t even do that.. It’s pathetic’ Don’t think like that…
'Ah! God ask me to fill that person's shortcomings. You showed me what I lacked.”
Thinking like this, we have to do it together while filling in the missing parts of him.
It is the same at home.
If you see the lack of a wife or husband.. children or parents/ Before pointing out that it is a flaw/
We need to be able to think, ‘I have to fill it up… I should help.
To borrow the words of one entrepreneur:
My company made a technical alliance with a Japanese company, and initially selected 10 people and sent them to the company for training.
I've been learning the company's technology well for a couple of years.
And then we hired 10 other employees and sent them to a Japanese company.
I've been learning well.
In the third year, 10 people were selected and sent again.
At this, the man who runs a company in Japan tilts his head and tilts his head.
'It's strange, didn't 10 people learn it three years ago? Why do you continue training next time?'
It was something I didn't understand. So I asked.
'Why do you spend a lot of money every year for 10 people?' When I asked, the Korean manager said that 10 people learn it a year, and some never teach the know-how of the technology they have learned to other employees.
And since another company pays more and scouts that person, they move to another company.
So, you have to keep training new people.
However, it is said that Japan sends some people to advanced countries with technical alliances, and when those people come back to the company, they will teach all of them.
I teach kindly until all the employees get used to it.
So the Japanese entrepreneur said this to the Korean manager.
'The problem of management in Korea is not a problem of technology, it is a problem of people.'
That's right.
We need people with beautiful personalities who can help each other and fill in the shortcomings of others.
There are many people who do things well by themselves, but not very well when they work together.
A collaborator who fills the lack of others is needed everywhere.
You need someone to lead in front
However, we need more people to help quietly and cooperate from behind.
In today's society and church problems, there is envy and jealousy that block cooperation.
There is a blind competitive spirit that goes down with each other.
If we don't cooperate, if we don't supplement, we can't really get and experience the cool of each other.
It is difficult and frustrating.
The fun of living is no longer there.
That's why I feel cool when I become a supplement, a helper, a collaborator.
The Bible refers to our saints as members of the body.
1 Corinthians 12:14-20 says, “The body is not one member, but many. If the feet say, “I am not a hand, so out of the body,” it is not because of this that it is not of the body. Even though it is not attached to the body, it is not because of this that it is not attached to the body. / If they are all one member, where is the body? Now the members are many, but the body is one.”
The members of the body live by filling each other's shortcomings.
If you don't live like that, you'll just die. So are we.
If we want to live our lives day by day with God's grace and His blessing, we must become saints who fill each other's shortcomings.
But/ With the selfishness that only I know... With greediness/ A life that only I know... If we live by making mistakes/ pointing out the shortcomings of others, we have no choice but to live in a difficult and difficult life in this world.
Guys, who do you have a relationship with?
Forgive me. I have to forgive any injustice and set my soul free.
You can't hate anyone, and you can't be hated.
You must not hold grudges, and you must not be the object of resentment.
We must always live with a free heart, a heart that frees the soul through forgiveness.
God is pleased with the way we cooperate with each other and fill each other's shortcomings.
He blesses us who live like that/ Seeing us who live like that/ refreshes our hearts.
As saints who can fill each other's shortcomings, I pray that you will refresh the Lord's heart.
