Title: The poor in spirit (Matthew 5:3)

Contents ***The poor in spirit (Schweitzer)***

There is such a story in the anecdote of Schweitzer, who can be said to be a saint of the 20th century.

In today's Christian life, we must have this attitude of life. Such a life is the life of Jesus, and the life of poor in spirit.

-----------------

We are living in difficult times right now.

So, in the hope that anyone can overcome this crisis and get out of it overnight, we are aiming for a lottery money. However, they make things more difficult, like drinking sea water when you are thirsty.

So, as believers, where can we bring about drastic change?

Yes, these are the words of Jesus. Among them, it is [Eight Blessings] of [The Sermon on Mountain and Mountain].

Jesus did not say that the strong, the rich, and the powerful are blessed, but that the [poor] are blessed. That's a really powerful word.

At this time, think about who the [poor] Jesus is talking about, and I pray in the name of the Lord that we may all receive the blessings of Jesus and enjoy the precious grace together.

1. What is a poor person?

1) Greek [ ] Ptokos

It refers to absolute poverty. (Barclay)

It means absolute poverty that has to crouch and kneel.

That's a beggar.

2) Hebrew [ ] evion

① simply poor

② The state of not having any influence or privilege of power because of poverty

③ The state of being trampled on and oppressed because of lack of strength

④ After all, he is a person who does not possess anything on earth and is completely dependent on God.

3) The poor in spirit

① A person who knows his absolute incompetence and completely depends on God.

② Those who realize that they are spiritually bankrupt.

③Only those who depend on God's grace and salvation.

Main subject

1. The poor in spirit are those who earnestly seek God.

1) Realizing separation from God.

2) He is a person who diligently seeks God in order to break free from separation from God.

Psalm 42:1 As the deer longs for streams of water, so my soul thirsts for you, O God.

** God's command

Isaiah 55:6 Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

3) He who asks finds; he who seeks finds;

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find

knock on the door and it will be opened to you

Matthew 7:8 Everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds

It will be opened to him who knocks.

4) God meets such people and gives them salvation.

Psalm 130:7 O Israel, hope in the LORD!

For the LORD has mercy and abundant redemption.

Psalm 130:8 He will redeem Israel from all her iniquities.

*** He loved God through earnest longing for God,

I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become saints who receive God's comfort and peace.

2. The poor in spirit are contrite and humble.

1) Bible

Isaiah 57:15 Thus says he who is supreme and eternal, who dwells forever, whose name is holy:

To revive the spirit of those who dwell in the high and holy place and are of a contrite and humble heart.

Isaiah 66:2 All who are poor in spirit and contrite in spirit and tremble at my words

That person I would advise

2) Example (實例)

①Moses

If you are looking for a representative person in the Bible who was poor in heart, you can think of Moses.

At one time, as a prince, Moses had no lack in Egypt and was a confident man.

However, under the circumstances of a murderer, he lived as a shepherd in the wilderness for 40 years. Instead of being a prince, he was reduced to a nameless shepherd who was attached to strangers and tended to sheep. God called Moses. But he knew his circumstances.

So he declined to say that he couldn't do anything. Despite seeing various miracles, he continued to decline and refused. It was because he knew that he could not obey God's requests and commands by his own strength. He truly became a poor man in spirit.

②Isaiah

The prophet Isaiah was also a poor man.

In Isaiah 6, King Uzziah's poor state of mind is described in detail before the throne of God in the year of his death.

During his prayers, he heard a hymn: "Holy, holy, holy." But Isaiah cries out, "Woe to me, for I am destroyed." Then he lamented, "I am a man of unclean lips, and in the midst of a people of unclean lips, I have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

③ After David sinned by taking Bathsheba, he was rebuked by the prophet Nathan and repented.

Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit.

A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

***Being humble and contrite before God, you will receive and enjoy the blessings God has prepared for you.

I bless you in the name of the Lord to become saints.

3. Those who are poor in spirit recognize themselves as spiritually bankrupt.

1) Confessing your worthlessness before God.

2) It is a spirit that is absolutely dependent on God's grace for salvation.

3) Example (實例)

The Pharisee and the Publican's Prayer

Luke 18:10 Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

Luke 18:11 And the Pharisee stood and prayed by himself, saying, O God, I am

I thank you that you are not like extortioners, unrighteous people, and adulterers, and not like this publican.

Luke 18:12 I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of my income.

Luke 18:13 The publican stood afar off, and did not dare lift up his eyes to look up to heaven, but beat his chest and beat him, saying, Have mercy on me, O God, for I am a sinner.

Luke 18:14 I tell you, this man got down to the house after being justified more than the other, and everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

***I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become believers who receive the joy and grace of salvation by relying absolutely on God alone.

B. The blessing of the poor in spirit is to possess the kingdom of heaven.

1. Those who are poor in spirit already possess the kingdom of heaven.

1) The heaven of the soul is formed in the heart.

Heaven is not only given to us in the eternal kingdom of heaven, but also in our lives today.

It is being done.

This blessing is to fulfill the words of the Lord's Prayer, "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Luke 17:21 Nor can they say that it is here or there, for the kingdom of God is within you.

It is the heaven spoken of in the Word.

The hymn of the one who possesses this heaven is in chapter 495.

Verse 1) My soul has been blessed, and I have been stripped of the heavy burden of sin, and seeing that even this world of sorrow has been transformed into heaven. Hallelujah Praise the Lord for all my sins are forgiven and I walk with the Lord Jesus, and wherever I go, the kingdom of heaven

Verse 2) The kingdom of heaven, which I saw afar off before I saw your face, is coming true in my heart, day by day is near

Hallelujah, praise me, my sins are forgiven, and I walk with the Lord Jesus, wherever I go to heaven.

Verse 3) The high mountains, rough fields, cottages, palaces, and wherever my Lord Jesus is enshrined, the kingdom of heaven

Hallelujah, praise me, my sins are forgiven, and I walk with the Lord Jesus, wherever I go to heaven.

2. The blessing of the poor in spirit is to have a life full of joy before the situation changes.

1) Bible

Hab 3:18 I will rejoice in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.

2) It will change to a life full of joy.

Isaiah 29:19 The humble will rejoice in the LORD, and the needy among men will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust and have no fear, for the Sovereign LORD is my strength and my song and my salvation.

Isaiah 12:3 Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

3) Life-changing history is made.

Psalm 30:11 You have turned my sorrows into dancing; You have taken off my sackcloth into joy.

You are girded

conclusion

True blessing is a blessing from God.

The first secret to receiving that blessing begins with being poor in spirit.

Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love me,

Those who seek me earnestly will find me.

By confessing your total inability before God, confessing in contrition, and relying on God,

I pray in the name of the Lord that you may taste the true joy of heaven and the wonderful blessings of changing your life will be with you.
