power of the tongue
Proverbs 18:21
There was a man who became rich by the bottom of his tongue. He's a good talker, and he's made a fortune. One day he called his servant and told him to go to the market and buy the best food. What the servant brought in was the tongue of a sheep. You mean this is the tastiest haute cuisine? and ate deliciously. A few days later, I called the servant again and told him to buy some dog food, and he came in with the tongue of a sheep just like before. The master rebuked the servant. What the hell kind of guy are you? Can't you tell the difference between delicious gourmet food and food for your dog? Then the servant replied: “It is said that if the tongue is good, it cannot be better than that, and if it is bad, it cannot be worse than that. I mean, the tongue can be the best or the worst depending on how you write it.” The tongue can be served on the king's table or served in a dog's bowl, depending on the use.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” The tongue has power. Authority is a word that refers to a hand, and it refers to authority including responsibility and care. The tongue is the only thing in the human body that has the word “authority” attached to it. The authority comes from God (Romans 13:1), but God gave the tongue the authority. If you use that power well, you will eat good fruit.
The tongue has the power to prophesy.
The power of the tongue must be used as the power of prophecy. Prophecy is a word that predicts the future. The Apostle Paul told the Corinthian church, “... long for spiritual things, but especially to prophesy” (1 Corinthians 14:1). He emphasized prophecy rather than tongues.
I read an article written by the poet Park Hwa-mok in a book called “A Word That Raised Me”. He has loved to read since childhood. In those days when books were scarce, where is the money to buy books even if you want to read them? One Sunday, the Sunday School teacher gave me a children's magazine called “Children's Life” and asked me to read it. I read fairy tales and poems published in magazines, and I wanted to write poetry myself. I wrote my first poem under the title “Sunshine”. “The round sun/ The misty hillside/ crawling/ coming in sweat” I showed the poem to the teacher at church and said, “Did you write it without the help of other members of the family?” I nodded my head and said, “You wrote it very well. Do you have any writing skills?” and praised it.
And I said, "I'll give you a children's life magazine for a year, so keep reading and write a lot at the same time, and the teacher will watch over you." “The teacher will watch” This one word became a prophecy. One word made “Poet Hwa-Mok Park”. A young boy, Hwa-mok Park, said that his teacher was watching him made him read a book and write a poem. Words of interest and praise for a child's talent became the power of prophecy.
Negative words unfold negatively, and positive words unfold positively. Language guides life as a horse pulls a carriage. If you say “I can’t” and “I don’t have the ability”, your talents and abilities will decrease.
There is an Indian tribe called the Apache in the southern United States. As the chief grew older and chose a successor, the candidates were reduced to three. As a final test, I was asked to go to the top of a steep mountain and bring one of the certificates that I had been to the summit. One brought the rare grass and the other brought the rare stone. The third came empty-handed. When asked why he was empty-handed, he said, “I climbed the summit and came to see the other side of our tribe. The rivers flowed and the plains were open and fertile. If I become chief, we will have to move our residence there.” He said, “If I become a chief,” he said that he would become a chief, and even talked about what to do after becoming chief. The chieftain was, of course, passed on to a third person. Let's look into the future and speak prophetically. It will happen in due time.
The tongue has the power to heal.
It must be written as the power to heal the power of the tongue. The power of the tongue can cause disease, but it can also cure disease. If you say healing, you will be healed. The tongue is the power that can change life and words can change fate.
The mother of Rev. Joel Austin, author of The Power of Positive, was diagnosed with liver cancer and was told by a doctor that she had only a few weeks to live. I gave up all medical treatment and returned home. The family prayed to save the mother's life. The patient himself did not give up and decided to keep the word of God in his heart. “If you abide in me and my words are in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7).
My mother diligently searched the Bible, wrote down 30-40 words of healing, reassuring scriptures, and read it aloud every day. An amazing thing happened as the patient read and proclaimed aloud, mixing the Bible with his own words. My appetite returned and my face changed color. I gained weight and my health got better and better. He, who had only lived for a few weeks, is now alive without dying even after more than 20 years have passed. He recited and meditated on the healing bible every morning. These are words for faith and victory and health. In a loud voice, "God will give me long life and show God's salvation!" and shouted out loud. The Bible says: “A man believes with the heart, and confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation” (Romans 10:10). God is moved by the words of faith.
The centurion went to Jesus and said, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed and in great pain. The centurion said, "I will go and heal you." The centurion said, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you come into my house. Just speak the word, and my servant will be healed." When Jesus heard this, he said, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith in anyone in Israel.” And at that psalm, “Go, let it be done as you have believed”, the servant was healed (Matthew 8:5-13).
I too can experience miracles in my own words. “If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, saith the Lord, you would have said to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it would have obeyed you’” (Luke 17:6).
In the book “Water Knows the Answer” by Japanese man Masaru Emoto, you see three jars of rice, one saying “thank you”, the other saying “Damn”, and ignoring the other one. I threw it away. After hearing the word of thanks, the rice is fermented and smells good, and the rice that hears the sound of a bastard rots and turns black. The most rotten of them is the ignorant rice, which smells so bad that you can't even put your nose on it. It proves the power of words.
A person with kidney cancer went up to the roof every morning, looked at the rising sun, prayed, “Thank God,” and his health was restored. It is the power of words that regenerate cells.
In one African tribe, instead of cutting down useless trees with a saw or an axe, people from all over town gathered to shout at the tree, “I don't need you,” “I don’t need you!” and it withered little by little and eventually died. Rebuke disease and curse evil spirits. And claim health and declare health. "I am healthy! I live long!” Please show the power of the tongue as the power to heal. “Be set free from the bottle and be healthy!”
The tongue has the power to bless.
The power of the tongue should be used as the power of blessing. The way God blesses His people is “the Word”. When Abraham offered his only son Isaac to God, he said, “I will bless you and make your offspring great, like the stars in the sky, and like the sand on the seashore, and your offspring will gain the gates of their enemies, and through your offspring all peoples under the heavens will be You will be blessed, because you have obeyed my words” (Genesis 22:17-18). The blessings of Abraham and his descendants are the words of the covenant God gave them. It is what was said.
When Jesus sent out his disciples, “Whenever you enter any house, first say, ‘Peace be with this house!’ If someone finds peace there, your empty peace will rest with him, otherwise it will return to you” (Luke 10: 5-6) Where peace is spoken, peace arises.
A certain mother nags constantly because she loves her children. “Why are you like that?” “Why are you so lazy?” No matter how well-intentioned you are, negative remarks ruin your child. It is impossible to bless with negative words.
The Bible speaks of the power of blessing in words. Twin brothers Esau and Jacob fight fiercely over their father's blessing. Even though Jacob was not the firstborn, he stole the firstborn's blessing. He deceived his blind old father and stole his eldest son's blessing. Esau, who made his father's favorite delicacy and went to receive a blessing, beats the ground and weeps. I beg to bless me because I am the eldest son, but I refuse because I can't get it back.
Let the authorities bless you. Elisha was bald, and the children teased her for being bald. He cursed in anger, and a bear came out and bit and killed 42 (2 Kings 2:23-24).
The son whom Noah blessed was blessed and the son whom Noah cursed was cursed (Genesis 9:25-27). His father, Noah, drank too much wine and slept with his lower body exposed. Ham saw his father's lower body and said to the two brothers. Hearing this, Shem and Japheth stepped back and covered their father's body. Noah wakes up and Ham becomes a servant! Shem praises God! Japheth said, “Be great!”
God said to Abraham, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse” (Genesis 12:3). If you want to be blessed, bless. The words of blessing that come out of my mouth will be the welcome water that invites blessings.
“A soft tongue breaks a bone” (Proverbs 25:15). Sometimes a tongue is sharper than a sword. If the power of the tongue is wielded incorrectly, the harm cannot be said. There is a saying in our proverb that “the ax was lifted under the tongue”.
Say something promising. If you speak prophetic words with the power of the tongue, you are doing well. A prophet was brought before the king. the king asks. “You say you are a prophet, tell me when you will die.” He was trying to kill the false prophet. “I do not know the day, but I will die the day before the king returns.” The king tried to kill him, but he couldn't. After you kill him, it's your turn the next day.
We are those who have received Jesus and have received the authority to become children of God (John 1:12). God has given power to our tongues. God was with Moses. More specifically, He said, “I will be with your mouth” (Exodus 4:12). Our tongue has God-given authority, and our mouth is with God.
The tongue has the power to open the future. The tongue has mystical powers of healing. The tongue has the power to create blessings. Please use the power of the tongue as the power of prophecy, the power of healing, and the power of blessing.
