Title: The Power to Change People
Bible: 2 Samuel 6:12-16
Starting Point of the Word>>
This time, we would like to share the word “the power to change people”.
There is a book called "Praise makes even whales dance".
It is already impossible to whip one of the most fearsome predators of the sea, a killer whale weighing over three tons, too aggressive for humans to handle and capable of ripping to death with a whip, but there is a way to make it dance. That's what I call a compliment.
With this in mind, I wrote a book called ‘Praise makes even whales dance’.
In this book, the author divides the reactions between people into two categories: the ‘slap on the back of the head’ and ‘the whale reaction (commendation reaction)’.
The 'reaction to the back of the head' is a collection of items to be criticized and then suddenly pours it out like a slap on the back of the head. On the other hand, the 'whale reaction' is to always praise and encourage rather than criticize and criticize. It is a very simple theory, but the result is That makes a huge difference in response.
Humans can bloom when they receive praise and encouragement.
However, the reality of our lives is filled with rebuke, rebuke, condemnation and curse rather than praise and encouragement.
When you see what other people are doing at church, do you start praising them?
Do you start criticizing?
When your child gets test scores and your wife or husband does something, do you start praising them?
Do you start criticizing?
According to today's Bible, the ark of the Covenant, which had been captured by the Philistines, was returned to Jerusalem after 70 years.
David wanted to become king and bring the ark back to Jerusalem.
According to 1 Chronicles 13:1-4, David discussed bringing the ark to Israel with the captains of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and all the generals. An agreement was reached with the whole congregation.
According to the words of 2 Samuel 6:1, 30,000 people selected from Israel were gathered again for this purpose.
Famous musicians from all over the country were invited.
It was truly a national and family event.
It is a scene of great unity in which all the hearts of Israel are united centered on God (the ark) with the ascension of a new king.
But what happened when David brought the ark of the Covenant.
It must have been indescribable to describe the joy of the ark since it was the first time in 70 years.
It is the ark of power that went to the fore when crossing the Jordan River and when the fortress of Jericho fell.
David was very happy.
But David liked it so much that he danced and rejoiced, and his wife Michal saw the scene through the window.
Michal despised David in his heart and ridiculed him.
It wasn't just a mocking heart.
According to 2 Samuel 6:20,
“How glorious is the king of Israel today, as a prodigal man reveals himself without shame, so today he has revealed himself before the eyes of his servant’s maidservant.”
is to say
Rather than praising David as he dances in praise of God, it is a scene that ridicules and despises him.
Today, we have a message that we need to understand together while looking at this situation.
Go to Word>>
Then, what should we learn from today's text?
First, we must become a saint who praises others rather than criticizes them.
Psychologists point out that "the person with the most flaws criticizes others the most."
They despise what others have done, despise and ridicule them, and they like to ridicule their weaknesses by making fun of them.
Why did Michal criticize David in today's text?
It wasn't because she loved her husband, it wasn't to protect him.
She was extremely self-centered.
How happy would it be for her husband, David, to return the ark after 70 years?
David was humbly in front of God rather than his own face, dressed in sackcloth, that is, a commoner's garment, and danced to the ark with the attitude of "God is king".
With all his heart and sincerity, he was not conscious of people's face, did not pay attention to people's eyes, and gave praise to God with a sincere heart and gave glory to God.
But Michal did not know his heart.
He didn't know why, and he only thought about his face.
Today David dances with joy because the priests come in carrying the ark of the covenant.
And worship and give thanks to God.
And he blesses all the people, not just those who carried the ark.
These words include saying that they praised the people, and they distribute bread to the people and bless their families as well.
We should be saints who glorify God, bless him, encourage him, and praise him by seeing what others do.
I shouldn't be accusing me of doing things that I don't like because I can't.
We should be a commendable community.
We should praise each other even if we have shortcomings.
Even if other people do things that do not agree with each other, we should praise and encourage them.
Then, we can become me and our members who work together for good.
Second, we must be saints who remember that Jesus commended sinners.
If you read the Gospels, you will see that there are many things where Jesus praised sinners.
In Matthew 8, a centurion appears.
A Roman officer with a hundred soldiers, he was despised by the Israelites.
But Jesus recognized and praised the Roman centurion.
It was not recognized and praised as normal, but recognized as the best and praised as the best.
“I tell you the truth, I have not found such great faith in any of Israel.”
Also in Matthew 9, a woman who has been suffering from bleeding for 12 years appears.
She was a poor woman with a disgraceful ailment with blood flowing all over her body.
People regarded such a person as a cursed person and did not like to approach them.
But Jesus recognized the woman and praised her.
“Jesus turned and looked at him and said,”
People did not look back on him, nor did they pay any attention to her.
But Jesus stopped walking, turned and looked at the woman, and said,
“Take heart, daughter, your faith has saved you.”
When Jesus saw the woman's faith, he praised her and proclaimed salvation.
“Your faith has saved you.”
After hearing Jesus' praise and being healed, the woman's life must have been completely changed.
He must have lived the life of a witness who testified of the Lord.
Compliments change a person's life.
Going back to today's text, wouldn't the ark come to Jerusalem just because Michal criticized David for the ark?
Wouldn't God's work be accomplished by accusing me of not liking my heart?
God's work is not not accomplished when people criticize it.
It is our God who can make even the stones cry if no one screams.
We should glorify, praise, and encourage God by seeing others serve and seeing the dedication of other saints.
A word of praise moves people.
Example>>
Inventor Edison was an inferior student at school.
But at home school, he was an honors student.
We were the same student, what was the difference?
At school, there was rebuke, criticism, and reprimand from teachers, and at home there was recognition, trust, and praise from mother.
His mother's constant trust, praise, and encouragement made Edison a world-class inventor.
There is a saying, "Praise turns a fool into a genius."
Third, we need to pay attention to how Michal failed to praise and criticized today.
Michal is recorded as a woman who can no longer receive the love of her husband, a woman who must be abandoned by God.
It is the result of being ridiculed and ridiculed for failing to praise or bless a husband who pleases God.
Looking at these disciplines, we can say that God was too much.
But this is a great event.
It was not to challenge her husband David, but to challenge God directly.
In fact, how much grace did Michal receive?
After Saul died and his family was destroyed, David took Michal as his wife.
But they forget grace and criticize.
We might as well criticize it.
They do not know God's great grace and blame others for hurting their self-esteem and self a little.
We must not become saints who forget grace.
In the name of the Lord, I ask that all of us believers today do not criticize what others do, but glorify God by seeing what others are doing, and encourage and praise those who do it. give.
Fourth, therefore, we should be praised and praised saints.
Praise is a good thing.
It's okay to be praised and praised.
First of all, I want you to become people who are praised by God and praised by others.
But in order to be praised, you must have something worthy of praise.
Cornelius was praised by God, by his servants, and by the Jews.
He had prayers and alms.
The seven deacons of the Jerusalem church were also praised.
Because he was full of faith, the Holy Spirit, and wisdom.
I hope that you too will become people who are praised by God and people.
To do that, you must have at least faith in prayer and love to help others.
If we continue to receive God's praise, we become that kind of person.
When God sees us and praises us as faithful servants, we become more and more faithful servants.
Praise makes a person.
At the end of the speech>>
Today, I hope that all of our members will praise and be praised.
The Lord has given us infinite forgiveness and comfort, and infinite encouragement and praise.
We live with the God of infinite forgiveness, infinite love, and infinite encouragement as our Lord.
I have been loved by God! I was encouraged by God! We are happy to have such a Lord.
Therefore, we too must become the shadow of the Lord, encouraging, praising, and loving the saints.
We can do things that brighten our souls without knowing anything else.
It comes from praise and encouragement.
Please remember that this is a holy work that anyone can do, a work that saves the soul, makes the soul dance, and makes the soul shine.
God sees our ugliness and praises us by saying we are pretty, lovely, beautiful, righteous, and loyal.
May we also live the beautiful days we have been given, praising each other.
I bless you in the name of the Lord that you have a precious day to live by praising rather than being praised in your daily life.
