The power to overcome life's adversity (Genesis 28:10-22)
In recent psychology, the positive power of overcoming adversity is called resilience. Resilience is 'the power to bounce back from the bottom of life'. We all face trials and tribulations in life, but happiness does not mean living a comfortable life without such trials and tribulations, it is what we feel when we overcome those trials and adversity and rise again. People with good faith are people with a high adversity recovery index.
1. Life's Adversity
(1) Human wisdom sometimes causes suffering (verses 10-11). When we sin, we have to pay a price and suffer. They suffer from fear, loneliness, guilt and shame.
(2) It is none other than a dream. It is a dream given by God (verses 12-15). If you look at the dream God has given you, a truly great promise is contained in the dream. God comes to us when our hearts are poor. When we despair, hope begins. Surprisingly, when we are in such absolute despair and frustration, it is the time when God draws closer to us.
2. The strength to overcome life's adversity lies in the consciousness of God's presence.
(1) Believing that God is with me now is a great strength (verse 16). After seeing the vision and hearing the word of God, Jacob wants to make the dwelling place of God's presence a temple (verse 17). First, the temple is the temple of God. It is a place where God's presence resides. Second, the temple is the gate of heaven. It is a place where God's revelation comes and blessings come. It is the church that opens the door to heaven.
(2) Therefore, we must build the temple (verses 18-19). In order to experience God's presence in the temple and receive blessings in the temple, we must anoint the temple with oil. In other words, the temple must be built separately. Among the characteristics of those who have met God, the most striking characteristic is the “life of worshipers”.
⑶ Jacob expresses the emotion and joy of meeting God with his vows and devotion (verses 20-22).
3. May you be blessed in the temple.
(1) I hope you overcome adversity while dreaming
(2) I hope you will be blessed by building the temple.
It is the church that opens the door to heaven.
When life's hardships come, strive to enter into God's presence and build a temple. When the church is closed, the economy, culture, society, and economy are all closed. Come to the temple and receive grace. I believe that when you come to the temple and receive grace, the doors of heaven will open and God's blessings will overflow.
