Title: The Powerful Church / Colossians 1:18-20
A powerful church (Colossians 1:18-20)
As such, the church is made up of various and complex people. However, in the midst of such diversity and complexity, it has the characteristic of being united only as one by focusing on Jesus Christ, the head. So the text says. “He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that he himself might have supremacy over all things” (Colossians 1:18).
1. The true unity and harmony of the Church
2. Hold on to Jesus Christ as your head!
Therefore, first of all, we must understand what the perfect will of Jesus Christ is for us. Everyone! When there is a problem with the body, the body plays separately. A person with a broken leg cannot move even if he wants to move his leg, and a person with an injured hand cannot use his or her hand. Likewise, the spiritually disabled in the church are those who ignore God's will for me and do what they want to do. Therefore, if we fully understand the will of Christ, we should focus on God's will for us rather than our own. A church with such saints can be said to be a living church, a church holding the head of Jesus Christ.
In the Bible, there is a representative model of the church that achieved unity in diversity. That is the Antioch Church. However, the reason that the Antioch church received such praise is not because there were many saints, nor because of the concentration of outstanding leaders and the constant number of miracles and wonders. Although the church in Antioch did not achieve this visible revival of the church, it was praised because it firmly held Jesus as the head. So that's what Acts 2:13 says. “While serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Set aside Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” So, what does it mean to serve the Lord here? That is worship.
When we serve the Lord rightly and become a true worship-centered church, that church can come to life centered on Jesus Christ, the head. In this way, in true worship and service, the church achieves unity. Because the Holy Spirit touches their hearts and makes them one.
3. Let's get up and go up to Bethel!
Everyone! The true revival of the church is to hold onto Jesus Christ, the head. Every house has a plug and an outlet. But what do you do with expensive appliances? If you don't have an outlet to plug in, you're useless. In this way, our power is only through Jesus Christ. Therefore, we must hold onto only Jesus Christ. Jacob was a man of great brains. But it was not his head or the material of the world that he caught in the midst of a crisis. he confessed. “Let us get up and go up to Bethel, and there I will build an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my trouble, who was with me on the way I went” (Genesis 35:3). That's what I found. In this way, we should rather become those who hold onto Jesus Christ in the day of tribulation.
Dear saints, Focus on worship! Hold on to the head, Jesus Christ! Then, without even knowing it, the history of restoration will happen. A clue to solving the problem comes to mind. In this way, worship is the channel through which we pour out the lost power again. Also, worship is what unites us. Therefore, in the name of our Lord Jesus, we bless everyone who understands these words that they will be lowered by cutting down the mountain of pride by restoring true worship, and that they will become members of the church that is united by renewal and the church of power by restoring the low self-esteem that has been lost. Hallelujah!
