Title: The Pride of God, Job

God's Pride, Job

Job 1:6-12 10-01-17

Incheon Presbytery Male Missionary Church United Devotion Service

1. Who is God?

Take Care of Mom (Shin Kyung-sook)

“You are my first child, aren’t you? Where was the only thing that made you try Nahanti for the first time? Everything about you is a new world. (…) I used to go into the room and spread out your little finger lying there. Also look at your toes. After that, I used to feel strong. When I put on the shoes for the first time, I felt really fresh. When you toddle and come to Nahanti, you burst out laughing so much that even if you poured gold and silver treasures in front of me, you probably wouldn't have laughed like that. - From pages 93-94 of the main text-

A child who is good to look at without asking for anything in return, this is the relationship between parent and child. Christianity is about relationships. Our relationship with God...

What is the heart of the father in the parable of the prodigal son recorded in the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament? Luke 15

20: So he got up and went back to his father, still far away, but when his father saw him, he had compassion on him, and ran to him, hugged him and kissed him. 22: The father said to his servants, "Take out the best garments, put them on, and put your fingers on your hands, and sandals on your feet. 23: Then bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and rejoice. 24: This is mine The son was dead and is alive again; I was lost and is found again, and they rejoiced.”

You are a father who embraces you unconditionally because you are a son, no matter how dirty or exhausted you are, even if you have spent all your possessions and nothing comes back. . Who is God?

God is our Father.

2. Who am I?

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German theologian. He was a German theologian who fought against Nazi Germany during World War II. One day, he is caught by the Nazis on treason and is put in prison. Heil, who was called the savior of the world and the Messiah, was dignified even in front of Hitler, Bonhoeffer, who finds himself collapsing in front of the sunlight coming through the prison window. And he begins to write these poems.

“Who the hell am I?”

Calmly, cheerfully, steadfastly, people often tell me that I come out of the cell as a lord comes out of his castle, but who the hell am I? People often tell me that I talk freely, kindly, clearly, as if I was ordering, with the guards. Who the hell am I? Calmly, smiling, proudly, like someone accustomed to triumph, people tell me that I am enduring my unhappy days. Am I really what people say I am? If not, am I just a mere acquaintance?

As anxious as a bird in a cage, sick from longing, struggling to breathe as when strangled, longing for colors and flowers and birdsong, kind words and

I miss human intimacy, my body trembles in anger at tyranny and petty insults, I get caught up in the expectation of great events, I feel discouraged by longing for a friend far away,

Tired of praying, thinking, and creating, he falls into disrepair, and is despondent and wants to say goodbye to everything.

Who the hell am I? Is it me in the front or me in the back?

Will this person be this person today, and a different person tomorrow? Are they both me at the same time?

Is he a hypocrite in front of men, a poor weak man who cannot help but despise himself in front of himself? Or is what is still in me like the losers who are scattered and retreat in a battle that has already been won or lost? Who the hell am I? This lonely question makes me laugh.

Whoever I am, oh God, you know me. I am yours.

The Bible tells us who we are. We belong to the Lord.

1 “Now, O Jacob, the LORD who created you speaks; now, Israel, he who formed you speaks. Do not be afraid, I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.”

The Bible calls us the things of God who has called us by name. (Isa 43:1)

3. Specifically, who does God call me?

Confessions of young people after experiencing the tabernacle... “You must know God and know the Word of God.”

“12: To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”

You are a child of God. Jesus Christ has made those who believe in His name and receive Him as children of God.

Specifically, we are children of God.

4. God who boasts of his children

This is today's text. Through the story of Job, we will realize how God's children should live, and we will meet God who is pleased and proud of His children who live according to His will.

- the celestial meeting

“6: One day the sons of God came and stood before the LORD, and Satan came among them. 7: The LORD said to Satan, “Where are you from?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “I have gone through all the earth to and fro.”

- The God of Job

8: The LORD said to Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job? There is no one on the earth so innocent and upright, fearing God and turning away from evil."

●Because you give me wealth?

9: Satan answered the LORD, saying, “How can Job fear God without cause? 10: Haven’t you put a hedge around him, and his house, and all that he possesses? 11: Now stretch out your hand against all that he has, and he will surely insult you face to face. 12 The LORD said to Satan, "All that he has I give into your hand, but his body." Do not lay your hand on Es, and immediately Satan withdrew from the presence of the LORD.”

-Natural Disaster / Man-made

Job's deeds of faith

20: And Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell to the ground and worshiped, 21: And he said, Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall she return; the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. 22: In all this Job did not sin, nor did he murmur foolishly against God.”

The second celestial meeting

“1: Another day the sons of God came and stood before the LORD, and Satan also came among them and stood before the LORD, 2: the LORD said to Satan, “Where did you come from?”

- God who is proud of Job again!

“3: Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you taken note of my servant Job? There is no one in the world so innocent and upright, fearing God, and turning away from evil. Even though you stirred me up against him without cause, he did not respect his integrity. I hold fast.”

Satan's tactics

“4: Satan answered the LORD, saying, “Skin is exchanged for skin, and all that a man has shall his life be exchanged for. 5: Now stretch out your hand and strike his bone and his flesh, and he will surely meet you face to face. 6: Then the LORD said to Satan, "I give him into your hand, but do not harm his life. 7: Then Satan withdrew from the presence of the LORD and struck Job, causing a sore sore from the sole of his foot to the top of his head."

Job's deeds of faith

8: And Job was sitting in the ashes, taking a piece of tile and scratching himself. 9: His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die." It is like one of the sayings of one of these people. “If we have received a blessing from God, will we not receive any disaster?” In all these things Job did not sin with his lips.”

- God who pleases the saints!

3 Zephaniah

“17: The LORD your God is in your midst, the Almighty to save; he will rejoice over you with rejoicing, he will keep his love over you, he will rejoice over you with singing and rejoicing.”

- Those who practice iniquity who act like saints!

Look at Matthew 7:21 and below

21: Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do the will of my Father who is in heaven 22: On that day many will say to me, “Lord, Lord, we prophesy in your name, 23: At that time I will say to them plainly, "I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness."

●A person who practices illegality?

wise man

24: Therefore, whoever hears these words of mine and puts them into practice will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock 25: The rain falls and the floods come and the wind blows and strikes the house, but it does not fall, because the foundation is laid on the rock.

a foolish person

26: He who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27: And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and crashed against the house, and it fell, and it fell, and the fall was severe.

●What is the illegal standard?

Those who hear the word of the Lord and obey it!

No matter how outstanding such gifts are, if they do not harm the unity of the church or build up the church, it is not a gift from the Holy Spirit. The work of the Holy Spirit is not separation or discrimination, but unity, and it is the power to build up the church according to God's will. It is the power of the Holy Spirit to constantly pursue the unity of the church and to think about the good of the community.

The Word of God is the work of the Church, the body of the Lord, to become one through the Holy Spirit.

It is to keep and practice the completed law of ‘love one another’.

In the name of the Lord, even though I work hard at something, it is the fact that God may not be pleased.

God is pleased with believers who love God and love their neighbors as themselves. And you are proud of it in heaven.

In the name of the Lord, those who keep His word and do it, even in the midst of undesirable circumstances and hardships, please God.

The saints who please God

The saints whom God is proud of

I pray that you will become saints who do not curse God no matter what happens, who trust and depend on God no matter what circumstances they encounter, and who become the pride of God today as well as members of Buil Church and Incheon Presbytery Nam Mission.
