Title: The Priest's Compensation/ Numbers 18:1~32
Content 32. Priest's Reward
Numbers 18:1-32
Chapter 17, the last verse, opens the story by answering the people's question, "Moses, do we all have to perish?" The priests and Levites were responsible for the sanctuary, and they even bore the sins against the sanctuary. If the sanctuary was defiled because of the sins of those who approached it, it was the responsibility of the priests and Levites. Therefore, the Levites would have to keep the people out of the way while performing the duties of the sanctuary.
On the other hand, it would be a right for a worker to receive a fair wage. Likewise, the priests and the Levites managed the tabernacle of God on behalf of the people and performed sacrifices to God on behalf of the people, so they lived by receiving gifts from the people. Of course, this was also permitted by God.
The priests received the “best oil” and “best wine and grain” among the first fruits of the land, the good gifts God gave to God’s people.
For the priests who did not have an inheritance, God gave them consideration so that they did not lack enough to live with the gifts of the people and the tites of the Levites.
The Levites also had no business, but they received tites for their labor in the tent of meeting. The people who could not get close to the tabernacle needed the services of the Levites and priests, and the Levites and priests lived by the people's tites.
Another tenth of the tithes offered to Yahweh for the life of the Levites was given back as a tithe of the tithe for the life of a priest.
Although the tites of the Levites were received from the people, they were recognized as produced by the Levites in the sanctuary and presented as a gift to the priests.
You are saved by the grace of Christ! You must live a life that seeks the glory of God, not for yourself. The concrete action plan is the 'complete doing life'.
