promise of life
(John 14:1-7)
(…) Jesus is the hope of all mankind. Our Lord is the Alpha and Omega of human history. And Jesus Christ is our A-men. December is the season of Advent. Advent is a period of anticipation and waiting for Jesus to come into this world. So December is a time when Jesus is emphasized more than ever.(…) It is a month when Christians should especially praise Jesus, boast and worship Jesus, and preach Jesus during this period. Guys, who is Jesus? It is impossible to answer this question precisely.(…) However, in today’s text, the Lord said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” about who he is. It is the promise of life.
(1) The Lord is the way, the truth, and the life. (14:6)
The way is the way of the cross. It is also called the Way of the Cross. “By offering blood” means that He took up the cross, and that He opened the way for us to live by carrying the cross instead. There is a way to live where you fulfill your mission and take responsibility. The way to renew and save us! This is the Way.(…) It is the truth! The truth is where God the Creator loves, and where that love works. The Word of the Father, the Word that became flesh, is the truth. The life here is the resurrection life. The life of Christianity is to put away what is perishable and live incorruptibility, to abandon what is disgraceful to live in glory, and to abandon what is finite and attain the infinite life. You can. If we know this, we all know.(…)
(2) Believe in God, believe in me (14:1)
(…) Faith is the only way out of anxiety. So what is this belief? It is to believe in the truth of the promise of the Lord (…). Be grateful for the promise of life that the Lord has made. Anxiety is gone, and faith is filled. It would be nice to realize and believe everything, but not all understanding and believing. At some point, you have to believe without knowing, and you have to believe even though you don't understand. How can you believe it? I have to believe because I believe in Him who has spoken to me. We must believe in the faithful One who died on the cross for us.
⑶ He said that there are many places to live in my father's house.
If we believe in Jesus, we live in the world like a stranger now, but we will eventually live in the Father's house.(…) The Father's house can be replaced with the words eternal life or life. Since eternal life transcends time, living in Jesus today is eternal life. To die and live in Christ is eternal life. It refers to the life in Jesus Christ, including the present. Rather than a temporal and territorial meaning, it is a more present, internal, spiritual, personal, existential expression (…) Don't ask where the heaven is. It is the place where Jesus resides and the house of the Father. We will go there. I can't say more theoretically and empirically than this. It is the Father's house that is open to those who have received and believed in Jesus Christ. Amen.
