Title: The Purpose of Jesus Christ

Purpose of Jesus Christ

- God of grace, change the world! -

Luke 4:18-19, Isaiah 61:1-2, Philippians 1:29

06. 1. 15, Goddess Sunday Sermon

Jesus said that the Holy Spirit of God came upon him to preach the gospel (Luke 4:18-21). And the purpose/mission of God sending Himself into this world as the Messiah

There are five things (Isaiah 61).

1. He came to preach the gospel to the poor.

2. He came to set the captives free.

3. He came to set the blind and the prisoners free.

4. He came to heal the oppressed and the brokenhearted

5. You have come to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

The first came to bring good news to the poor.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD has come upon me.

For the Lord has anointed me to give to the poor

to bring good news. (Isa 61:1)

What was the first mission of Jesus to come into this world? You have come to bring the beautiful news. Then, to whom this message is delivered, the Messiah has come to bring good news to the poor. But when we say poverty, we usually mean material poverty.

However, the poverty the Bible speaks of is not material poverty, but spiritual poverty, that is, a person who has an empty heart. Poverty in spirit is neither spiritual poverty nor material poverty. It is acknowledging one's lack and powerlessness before God, and trying to live the best life by justly evaluating oneself before God. Spiritually poor means spiritually sterile, but materially poor means lack of wealth. Therefore, poverty in spirit is not material things, but only having a heart of meekness and humility like Jesus (Matthew 11:29).

Then who is the poor in spirit? A person who is poor even with material things is a person of humility. A person who lives in peace even without material things is a person of contentment.

The chaplain at the base told the enlisted men to bring an empty bottle one by one. The reason was not explained. The enlisted men complained about a small vial, a bottle of Bacchus. cola bottle. However, some enlisted soldiers came with a large army of soldiers. The chaplain made honey and distributed it, telling them to fill the bowl as much as they wanted. God told them to prepare a word that is more precious than honey and put it in a bowl as much as they want.

Poverty of heart is taking clean vessels, large vessels, and prepared vessels and bringing them to God (2 Timothy 2:20-21). Therefore, poverty is to empty the heart as if to empty the vessel. After emptying your mind, you must put the power of Christ as a treasure in an earthen vessel. It is because you can receive grace only when you become poor in spirit by emptying your heart.

Therefore, Jesus meant 'poverty' in the sense of not being dominated by the world and not dependent on wealth. Those who truly love God, those who see God, those who follow God, and those who believe in God are poor in heart. That's why Jesus said He came into this world to bring good news to the poor. Therefore, I hope that you will become believers who receive Jesus Christ anew with a poor heart.

The second purpose came to set the captives free.

What is the happiest news for those who have been defeated and captured in war? It is to be free from captivity. Even in this day and age, there are those who are still young and have been taken captive by unfortunate events.

Moreover, there are many prisoners of war in Afghanistan who have entered the 21st century, and there are many prisoners of war in Korea, politically, economically, socially and ethically. But what is the happiest news for them? It is freedom from captivity.

But today, we live in captivity to culture, civilization, and language rather than those who live as prisoners of war. They are living in captivity to success, captivity to material possessions, captivity to money and fame, sickness and vanity, worries and worries, and spiritual captivity to sin and the power of Satan.

However, although the prophet Isaiah directly prophesied liberation from Babylon, 'preaching liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners', prophetically, Jesus freed all spiritually blind mankind from the shadow of sin and death. He said he came to do it. That is why the Apostle Paul said that we should no longer be subject to a yoke of slavery, since Christ set us free (Galatians 5:1).

Being imprisoned is not being imprisoned by anyone, but being trapped in a snare. In other words, it means that you fell while thinking that you were standing. You have dug your own pit, and you have fallen into a snare yourself. So, peace of mind disappears, you put on sunglasses, and you fall into unbelief. To those souls who have already been freed from sin but are still bound by the chains of sin because they cannot break free from their old habits, Jesus came to set the prisoners free. That is, to restore sight to those who are spiritually blind (Luke 4:18).

Therefore, Jesus did not come into this world to judge this world. He came to save this world and give us the freedom of glory as a child of God. Therefore, we are free men, not captives. I pray that you will become saints who accept Jesus, who has given you true freedom from the snares of sin and death (Romans 6:18, 7:24,25, Hebrews 2:5).

The third purpose came to heal the brokenhearted

Today, in this era, as culture and civilization develop, more people are hurt. However, bodily wounds can be repaired cleanly with the latest advanced plastic surgery or with advanced drugs. However, there are many people who suffer from heartaches rather than physical wounds.

The wounds of the heart are more painful than the pain of the body. There are many people who live with a sense of victimization in their social life, interpersonal relationships, and family life. Therefore, there are many modern people living with dissatisfaction, frustration, inferiority, envy, jealousy, doubt, fear, and anxiety because they are not always at ease.

A broken spirit is a troubled heart, an incapacitated heart, like a broken bone, like a person who had broken a bone while running well in the past.

A broken heart is like a broken and shattered piece. The war broke the glass in the cathedral. The saints made stained glass windows by joining pieces of broken glass and having the best technicians glue them together. A wound in the heart is a wound that no one in the world can bind up, cover, and heal, and there is no one in the world who can heal it. But what did the Bible say?

?he Lord is near to the brokenhearted,

He saves those who are crushed in spirit??(Psalm 34:18).

?he sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, O God.

A broken and contrite heart You will not despise" (Psalm 51:17).

?e heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds??(Psalm 147:3).

?ven when my spirit was broken within, you knew my way.

They hid a snare for me in the way I went??(Psalm 142:3).

When the time was fulfilled, God sent Jesus to this earth to heal the broken heart and bring true peace. Jesus, who came as the Prince of Peace, came to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds.

The fourth purpose came to comfort the sad.

According to the Bible, there are many reasons for sorrow. Also, while we live in the human world, there are many sorrows, and the greatest of them is the death of a loved one. David was sad when Saul and his dear friend Jonathan died.

However, there are prophets and patriots who shed tears for their country and people when their neighbors, society, or nation suffered. Mordecai tore his clothes, put on sackcloth, and risked ashes to go out into the city to weep loudly. Esther declared a fast for the Jewish people, 'If you die, you will die', saving the nation from crisis (Esther 4:1- 4).

Jesus took Peter, John, and James in the Garden of Gethsemane, and my heart was so troubled that I was about to die. Stay here and stay awake with me. Let it pass, while mourning for mankind, but not as I will, but as you will??(Matthew 26:36-39).

Nehemiah said to the people, "Do not mourn or weep, for today is the holy day of the LORD your God. Do not be grieved, for this day is holy to our Lord, for the joy of the LORD is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:9, 10). I did.

The psalmist sings, God is the One who turns sorrow into dance, who takes off his sackcloth and puts on his belt of joy (Psalm 30:11). Even though our years are seventy, and if we are strong, we are eighty years old, but the pride of those years is our toil and sorrow, and they go quickly and we fly away (Psalm 90:10).

Therefore, Peter said, "It is a beautiful thing if you suffer in vain, but endure sorrow because you remember God. It is beautiful??(1 Peter 2:19-20). Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted" (Matthew 5:4). Jesus came to this world to bring true comfort and peace that the world cannot give in a world full of sorrow, anxieties and worries that cannot be expressed in words. However, the method was specifically documented. It is said that he gives crowns made of flowers to those who mourn, anoints them with the oil of joy, and gives them clothes of praise.

When individuals, families, or any community glorify God, peace will come to those on earth, but when humans gather to eat and drink, there is no end to worries, worries, anxieties, and suffering and suffering.

True peace is a gift from above when it pleases God. Therefore, if you want to become a happy church, it is the mission given to us today, especially our goddesses, to create a church that gives benefit, joy, or fun to others rather than looking for a church that gives you fun, joy or benefit.

Why are many believers not enjoying happiness in their religious life? It is because I forget the wishes of God and find the church I want. God wants a church that fulfills the purpose of salvation of souls. The church is a place where human encounters take place, but it is not a social club, but a community for the spiritual struggle to save souls.

So, according to the purpose of Jesus' coming into this world, good news to the poor, broken-hearted will be healed, captives and prisoners will be set free forever, and life will bring true comfort and joy to all those who are sad and worried. I hope that the glory will appear and the year of the Lord's grace will come and you will become the saints who build a gracious and happy church.

Prayer: May the glorious Church of God be established through the goddesses and the saved saints, the eternal inheritance is guaranteed by the promise, and the life of the saints overflowing with the joy of praise, free from worries and worries. Amen
