Title: The Real Precious and Worth
Text: Matthew 13:44
"The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, and when a man finds it, he hides it, and rejoices, he goes back and sold all that he had and bought the field."
In Genesis 25:29-34, Jacob realizes the preciousness and value of his birthright and plots to take it from his brother Esau. But Esau takes the birthright's birth lightly and commits the foolishness of selling it for a bowl of red bean soup.
It's a story from the American West. A farmer always grumbled when he saw a badly stinking puddle in his field. Farmers' complaints grew more and more because they couldn't give water to the cows or horses. In the end, the farmer almost appraised the farmland with the puddle and sold it. On the day of 'Breakfast from the Puddle', the farmer rejoiced with a party. But that “disposal” became the biggest mistake of his life for the farmer. A huge oil field was discovered in that pool. What seems worthless may be a ‘blessing inheritance’. Let's think about what we usually take lightly and don't know the value of.
First, we do not know the preciousness of time and its value. If a person lives 70 years, it takes 20 years to sleep, 20 years to work, 6 years to eat, 8 years to play, 5 years to dress up, 1 year to make a phone call, 7 years to be in a car, 3 years to wait for someone, etc. It takes. We often regret the past. The time given to a person is not long enough to procrastinate and procrastinate. We waste a lot of time on things we don't really care about. The Bible says “Save the time, for the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16).
Second, we do not know the preciousness of health and its value. People usually value money, power, fame, and knowledge very much. I think it will make you happy if you have it. But the fact is that without health, wealth, power, knowledge, nothing is of no use. You don't know how grateful you are just to be healthy.
Third, we do not know the preciousness of life and its value.
The Bible says “Life is more important than food, and the body more than clothes” (Luke 12:23).
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? What will a man give in exchange for his life?” (Matthew 16:26)
Life is more precious than the world. One soul is worth more than the whole world. Therefore, nothing is more precious than saving a life. And there is no institution or person other than the church that does this. Rescue work is a unique task and privilege that only the church and members of the church do. You don't know how foolish it is to ignore a privilege and not use it. What's more, it's the most value-added work. What are we so busy with today? Why are you so busy? For what the hell are you panting so much? Putting aside the precious things that need to be prioritized... .
A rich young man came to Jesus and asked about eternal life. The Lord told the young man to sell his possessions, give it to the poor, and follow me, but he told him to go away grieved because he had a lot of money. Many of his riches were holding him back as he tried to follow the Lord. Perhaps riches were seen as more valuable and necessary to the young man than eternal life. Even if not, it is by no means an easy task to distribute wealth. However, the Lord teaches us what is the most precious thing, saying, “Life is something that cannot be changed even if you give it to the world.” That's right. Even if the current generation cannot live without money and money can solve everything, we must not forget that there are things more precious than wealth. A Christian is one who shows all the glory of the world and has eternal life that cannot be changed even if it is given, and a saint is one who keeps it to the end. If you are stumbled by the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and are unfruitful, your soul is like thorns (Matthew 13:22).
Fourth, we do not know the importance of the Bible and its value.
This is an anecdote of the famous German composer Handel. One day, Handel lost his wig while on the road. At that time, wigs were very important items. After a long time of perplexity, a beautiful lady found his wig. Turns out she was a lady working at a nearby barber shop. After that, Handel came to visit her often with gratitude. As a result, I fell in love with her. Handel gave his oratorio to the woman he loved.
