Title: The Respectful One / Proverbs 16:24-33
There is an old proverb that <the power of the pen is stronger than the power of the sword>.
This means that language, that is, the power of words, is more powerful than force, so this statement will emphasize the importance of language.
The text emphasizes the importance of this language life and recommends to be careful with our lips.
--The scoundrel... The word scoundrel here is the same as the treacherous word in 2:12, which means <turn over> <change>.
Therefore, the meaning of this word is a person who intentionally and maliciously distorts the true truth or what is good to deceive people.
---The futility of such people's work?
1) Gorgeous lips lead to death
Verse 25: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it is the way of death.”
2) Gorgeous lips urge hard work
Verse 26: “He who labors struggles for his appetite, for his mouth provokes him.”
The righteous strive and strive for what is righteous. But the gorgeous lips constantly urge themselves with futile efforts. They do not think about the glory of God, his justice, or love for their neighbor, but only strive to satisfy their own desires.
3) Gorgeous lips plot evil.
Verse 27: “A wicked man devises evil, and his lips are like a raging fire.”
Everything they do is evil. it's dirty That is their character.
4) Gorgeous lips cause quarrels
Verse 28: “A scoundrel stirs up quarrels, and a stalker separates close friends.”
--A person who talks a lot will always say something different.
So 1 Timothy 5:13...<And they learn to be lazy and go from house to house, and not only are they lazy, but they are vain slanderers, making things, and saying things they shouldn't...>
James 3:17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, tolerant, gentle, full of mercy and good fruit, without partiality and without deceit. Nara.>
5) Gorgeous lips lead to evil paths
Verse 29: “A violent man deceives his neighbor and leads him in an evil way.”
6) Conclusion
Gorgeous lips do no good to us. No matter how good we are, our words do not lead us on the right path.
Just because we speak fluently, doesn't mean that words make us all.
--What matters is not in the words, but in the responsibility of the words. That is why, rather than saying a lot, we should entrust everything we have to the faithful God.
Texts 31-33...< Gray hair is the crown of glory, and it will be found in the path of righteousness. He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his heart is better than he who takes a city. A man casts the lot, but it is with the LORD to decide what to do.> So it was.
Our words are only our plans. But it is Jehovah God who does it.
Do we believe this?
We are bound to make mistakes when we speak. Therefore, I pray in the name of the Lord that you can refrain from speaking and walk the blessed path of obeying God's will.
