Title: The Resurrection (Luke 24:1-12)
Introduction
The word resurrection means in the Greek.
The word resurrection in the biblical sense refers to the miracle of God that brings the body and spirit of the dead back to life. There is a temporary resurrection, as in the case of Lazarus (John 11:38), and a time of resurrection to glorious eternal life, as in the resurrection of Christ.
Let us first look at this resurrection through the Old and New Testaments.
1. Resurrection in the Old Testament
(1 Kings 17:17), we see that the son of a widow living in Zarephath and the son of a Shunammite woman (2 Kings 4:32) rose from the dead.
Their coming to life has the result of strengthening Israel's faith in Jehovah's almighty power to resurrect the dead, and God raised the dead through an almighty creative act.
But they are only temporarily revived, not forever. These are people who are bound to die again and are dead.
In the Old Testament, the resurrection did not appear very much at first, but gradually it became evident. And the resurrection is the image of Enoch (Genesis 5:22-24) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:11,12) who obtained eternal life as natural people and ascended to heaven with the flesh as it is, so that humans with body and spirit will have an eternal future. It showed more firmly the hope that we could be able to do it, and it gave us hope.
The Bible says (Job 19:25-27), "As far as I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand on the earth in the latter days. After this skin of mine, which has decayed, I will see God out of my body, and I will see him with my own eyes. I will not look upon him as an outsider, and my heart is ruthless.” Here Job sees that after his death, he is confident that God will rise as his Redeemer and defend him.
Ezekiel 37:1-10 already explains the vision of the valley of dry (skeletal) bones. These bones lost their lives and were separated from each other, but they gained new life by the powerful power of the Holy Spirit, which means resurrection. .
2. Resurrection in the New Testament
In the New Testament, the Greek word is also used for the spiritual or physical resurrection of the dead. In the New Testament, the Greek word (engersis; awakening) is used a lot, but this word is only used in relation to the resurrection of Jesus. There was a time when Jesus raised people back to life, but after that, there are many stories about how Jesus’ disciples saved many people and healed the sick.
Jesus' disciple Peter raised Dorcas (Acts 9:36), and Paul raised Eutychus (Acts 20:9). The fact that Jesus raised the dead was proof that Jesus was the Messiah and the power of resurrection that Jesus had. was to do.
Jesus' Resurrection occurred on Sunday morning, three days after Jesus died and was buried on Friday evening. Jesus' resurrection was different from those who had previously raised the dead.
The meaning of the resurrection of Jesus is the most amazing expression of God's power, and through the resurrection he was recognized as the Son of God.
The reason why Jesus was crucified by the Jewish religious leaders was that Jesus was crucified because he claimed to be the Son of God and equal to God (Matthew 26:63-65). By raising him from the dead, he testified that there was no way to deny that Jesus was the Son of God. Jesus is God incarnate (John 1:14), the last Adam who symbolizes sinful and lost humanity (Romans 5:12), and the only mediator between God and humans (1 Timothy 2:5), who came to save sinners. God (Hebrews 2:14)
3. In what form will we humans be resurrected after we die?
First there will be a resurrection of the dead. The New Testament clearly teaches that all people, whether in Christ or out of Christ, will be resurrected by Jesus Christ, who will judge themselves solely according to their works (John 5:28; Romans 14:10; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Rev 11:18) Therefore, the resurrection of the body will either lead to eternal life or to eternal judgment under the wrath of God. So when will the dead be resurrected?
In 1 Corinthians 15:51 and 52 chapters and 1 Thessalonians 4:16, it is recorded that the resurrection of the dead will take place at the Second Coming of the Lord. At this time, those who were in Christ will be transformed immediately upon their resurrection, and all previously dead believers will be glorified and privileged to meet their Redeemer in the air.
conclusion
If there could be anything a cross without resurrection could mean, it would be that [God was not satisfied with the death of Christ].
The resurrection of Jesus is God's "Amen" to Jesus' cry, "It is finished", which he cried on the cross.
The death of Jesus ended the yoke of sin upon believers, and the resurrection of Jesus marks the beginning of a life free from the yoke of sin.
Therefore, I pray that you will become believers who believe and give thanks for the fact that the fact of the resurrection of Jesus proved that the future believers will also be resurrected with the same body.
-Amen -
