Title: The Resurrection Lord Who Comes to Us
Contents
On the evening of this day, the first day after the Sabbath, when the doors of the place where the disciples had gathered for fear of the Jews were shut, Jesus came and stood in the middle and said, "Peace be with you.
When he had said this, he showed his hands and his side, and the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
And Jesus said to them, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.
When he had said these things, he breathed on them and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit.
If you forgive anyone's sins, they are forgiven; and if you leave anyone's sins, they remain.
Thomas, who was called Didymus, one of the twelve, was not with Jesus when he came.
The other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." Thomas said, "Unless I see the marks of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the marks of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
Eight days later, when the disciples were in the house again, Thomas was with them, and the doors were shut, but Jesus came and stood in the middle, saying, “Peace be with you.”
Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and reach out your hand and put it in my side. So be not a believer, but a believer."
Thomas answered and said, My Lord and my God.
Jesus said to them, "Do you believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and believe."
