Title: The Righteous Kingdom of Jehovah / Isaiah 32
Contents Jehovah's Righteous Kingdom
Isaiah 32
Continuing the previous paragraph describing the Assyrian judgment, Isaiah describes God's subsequent righteous reign.
1. The reign of a king (1-8)
① The nature of the king's rule (1-4)
Isaiah describes in impartiality and fairness the character of a nation to be established through a king. These characteristics are closely related to the identity of Israel. Unlike neighboring countries, Israel cannot be ruled by a king at will, but must be governed only on the basis of the Word of God. This unique order, that is, the method of vicarious government by the Word of God, inevitably reflects God's righteous attributes.
② The two sides of the kingdom of God (5-8)
Isaiah explains that in a kingdom ruled by a king, salvation and judgment will come at the same time. For God's righteous reign will reveal not only righteousness more clearly, but sin also more clearly. It is as if the history of the Exodus brought salvation to Israel but brought judgment to Egypt.
2. Warning against Israel's rebellion (9-14)
① Warning to individuals (9-11)
The present state of Israel is at a critical moment when the Assyrian threat is right in front of us. Nevertheless, the people are living carelessly and comfy, without any sense of crisis. From these facts, we can see that the people of that time were insensitive to the changes around them and lacked the spiritual insight to distinguish the generations.
② Prophecy of judgment on the whole community (12-14)
Isaiah goes beyond a personal warning and now prophesies that judgment will come upon the entire community of Israel. It shows that the sinfulness of Israel at that time had reached its peak, and at the same time, it is saying that individual sins and community sins cannot be separated.
3. A kingdom brought about by the coming of the Holy Ghost (15-20)
When the future righteous King comes and begins to reign, God will pour out the Holy Ghost and bring about perfect harmony between God and man and nature.
① Natural blessing through the coming of the Holy Ghost (15)
He declares that the natural blessing of turning a wilderness into a beautiful field when the Holy Ghost comes upon him is followed.
② The governing principle of the country (16-20)
As a result of the coming of the Holy Ghost, eternal rest and peace will abound for the people of God's kingdom. The coming of the Holy Spirit affects all areas of man and the universe, and guarantees eternal peace to God's people.
