Title: The Road to Dreams

Contents

Bible: Mark 2:1-12

─────────────────────

One of my acquaintances was blind because of diabetes. That's why I can't read my favorite books at all, and I can't read newspapers at all, so life isn't fun," he said. The pleasure of seeing is so important to people.

In Mark 10, we see Bartimaeus, the son of Dimeus. Among the characters recorded in the Bible, if the name of the father is indicated, at least in that town, it is a pretty famous house. However, it seems that he was abandoned because he was blind from birth. Badimeo's invisible eyes were the biggest obstacle in achieving his dream.

It seems that the paralytic in today's text was not a person of faith. It seems that the four friends who brought him to Jesus had faith. So he laid him on a stretcher and brought him, but there were so many people that he could not get close to Jesus. This was a stumbling block for them.

As we start 2010, we each have our own dreams. In addition, there will be dreams that you want to achieve in 5 or 10 years. But that dream doesn't come easy. Because there are obstacles in the way of achieving your dreams. If a dream is something that can come true easily, it cannot be called a dream.

Through today's Bible verse, we hope that we too will overcome the obstacles in front of us and make our dreams come true as we see the miracle of a paralyzed man overcoming obstacles and walking.

In Mark 10, when Bartimaeus, a blind man, heard the news that Jesus was coming to the village, from the morning he said, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.” and shouted. Because they cannot see, they do not know when Jesus will come to the village. Then people threatened him and told him to be quiet. But Badimeo screams louder because he wants something. I did not give up because there were obstacles. That's what's important.

Even in today's text, the friends who brought the paralytic were so crowded that they could not go to Jesus, but they did not give up. It is important to have an attitude that does not give up on obstacles. If you have a dream you want to achieve this year, if you have a dream that you want to achieve in 5 or 10 years, I believe you will have to work towards that dream until the end.

The important thing in the text is that there were a lot of people. They could not go to Jesus with a stretcher. Then the friends went up to the roof. That's it. When a stumbling block lies ahead of us, we do not step back, but rise above it. A stumbling block is something you can remove when you step on it and climb up. What is stepping over the stumbling block? That is exactly what I change my mind.

When there is a conflict in a relationship, we sometimes pass the fault on to others. It made me think that it happened because of that person. But this kind of thinking cannot remove the stumbling blocks. When I change my mind, I will be able to go up on the roof like the words of today's text. It is possible to remove obstacles in an instant.

David was hated by Saul for no reason and had to run away for 20 years. He is a man who has spent years running aimlessly to avoid Saul, who is constantly pursuing him. But David never lost sight of God during these years. Looking at David's life, he prayed to God every time and asked God's will. It was a life that looked only toward God.

The most important thing is that Saul, who followed David so intently to kill him, dies at the battle of Mount Gilboa. So David went to the area where the tribe of Judah was and became king. He became king in Hebron. The rest of the tribes did not accept David. From the north to the north, Ishbosheth the son of Saul became king, and Abner, a good warfighter, stood behind him. David was able to return to his hometown, but he became king only in one corner. But, as we know from the Bible, Ishbosheth and Abner, who were David's enemies, were all killed by someone else. David very easily got rid of all his enemies and became the king of Israel according to the will that God had called David. As the saying goes, “All things will work together for good to those who love God and to those who are the called according to His purpose.” He became the king of unified Israel.

Guys, that's one reason. Only David looked to the Lord in everything he did. Everyone, I believe that our dream will come true in 2010. However, there is only one condition. I hope that it will be a life that the Lord sees in every day. There are always obstacles. There was not a single person in the Bible who was not without stumbling blocks. Without a stumbling block, that would be even weirder. There are always obstacles. Please acknowledge that there are obstacles in achieving our dreams. Just because a stumbling block appears, don't kick it. Please overcome that stumbling block. And look to the Lord. So, I pray in the name of the Lord that 2010 will be a year when dreams come true.
