Title: The Second Coming of Jesus Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:16
A person is called ??andropos? in Greek, which means ??a being who looks up. The eyes of animals are made to look down and live, but humans are made to look forward or up. Therefore, those who always live with hope for the afterlife are living as human beings. We see the Lord's return through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts 1:11 He said, "Men of Galilee, why are you standing and looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven."
Those who believe in the resurrection must also believe in the Second Coming of Jesus. Resurrection without the Second Coming is like a tree without fruit.
1. The Second Coming of Jesus
(1 Thessalonians 4:16) First, the Lord Himself comes.
Fourth, he comes like a thief. (2 Peter 3:10) No one knows when it will come. Just as a woman giving birth does not know when she will give birth, so is the second coming of the Lord. The word coming here like a thief gives us a deep meaning. It means to always be prepared. It means to be ready to welcome you at any time. It also means that you are preparing now. It also means to be thoroughly prepared.
How should I prepare? In Matthew 24, like the fig tree, we must prepare it with fruit. We must prepare with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Verse 42 tells us to stay awake and prepare. Verse 45 tells us to prepare ourselves faithfully for our office. In Matthew 25, we are told to prepare well for the oil through the five wise virgins, and through the parable of the talents, we are told to prepare for the second coming by performing our duties well. Fifth, he comes for all to see. (Rev 1:7) The Lord comes like a thief, but on the day He comes, He will come so that all can see. He even said that he would come to see those who crucified Jesus.
2. Why is the Lord coming again?
First, he comes to repay you for what you have done.
(Matthew 16:27) The second coming of Jesus is to come to this earth to judge how we lived in the world and for our deeds. He is coming to judge whether we have fulfilled our duties well and whether we have lived a proper life as a true disciple of Jesus, and to reward us for it. Second, he comes to execute the kingship. (Matthew 25:31) The Lord comes to this earth as King. He comes as a victorious king. He comes with the authority to judge all things in the world. Everyone and all the universe will tremble before him. Third, He comes to give us rest. (2 Thessalonians 1:7) The word rest here means set free from adversity. It also means to stop working and rest. The purpose of the Lord's return is to end the work of suffering of the saints and to give us eternal rest and freedom.
