Title: The Second Pentecost" (Acts 2:1-4)
Today is the day that Jesus overcame death and the powers of Hades and was resurrected. The resurrected Jesus told us not to leave Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father that I had heard. John baptized with water. But you said that in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. So, believing the word that the Holy Spirit works on us, 120 people did not leave Jerusalem and prayed earnestly in Mark's upper room for ten days. Finally, on the day of Pentecost, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and could not sit there. Only when we witnessed the gospel of the resurrection and the cross was the church born on the earth. Therefore, Pentecost is the birthday of the church.
The text describes how Christianity, the religion of life and the religion of salvation, was born in this world in a simple but very realistic way. After that, there were concerns that the church would be uprooted due to many twists and turns during the 2000 years of the church coming down, and there were times that the church would be in communion with worldly power and deadly pests would occur within it, so the church would decay and lose its life. At times, the church was so old and in decline that it felt like an old tree that had reached the end of its lifespan. However, please believe that the church has been refreshed and energized by the work of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost, and has reached this day. When the work of the Holy Spirit is strong, the church is revived. When the history of the church's life appeared weak, the church lost its strength and declined.
The first Korean church revival movement took place in 1907 at Jangdaehyun Church in Pyongyang. Afterwards, a second revival took place several times in the 1970s. However, from 1984, the church began to shrink and split, and the Korean church is now facing a crisis. It is the work of the second Pentecost that we desperately look forward to and demand at such a time. In Joel 2:28, it is promised that in the last days the Holy Spirit will be poured out on male and female servants like water. At this time, we believe that God will pour out the Holy Spirit like water. Before Jesus comes again, He will give us the Holy Spirit once again to make the grain saints, but I believe that God will create the history of Pentecost like the Holy Spirit of the latter rain in our Korean church. Why should we wait for the second Pentecost at this point?
1) To change and become a new person. 2) To receive power. 3) To receive healing. 4) To form a community of love. 5) To achieve a unified church. 6) It is for the church to be revived from the swamp of stagnation. 7) It is for the unification of the gospel of the nation. It is not by force, but by the Spirit of the Lord. When the second Pentecost is once again at work on this earth amazingly by the power of the Holy Spirit, the people of this earth will repent, and the hearts of the people of this earth like the wilderness will come back to God and the chosen nation will be established and the kingdom of the gospel. We believe that the Lord will come as rain after the great and wonderful age of preaching the gospel to all parts of the world is accomplished.
Therefore, our Christian movement is the Holy Spirit movement. When we grab hold of the Lord's faithful promise not to leave Jerusalem and wait for the Father's promise, and pray, the Holy Spirit is strong and hasty, like the wind, and tongues of fire on the day of Pentecost. We believe that history will happen before us. "Lord, raise up the work of Pentecost among us. The only way for our people to live and our church to come alive is to experience the Holy Spirit on the second day of Pentecost. I want to receive the power of prayer, the power of praise, and the power of evangelism. Amen."
