Title: The Secret of Self-Salvation
Contents
Argument: The Holy Spirit is the one who rules the heart, but the one who controls me is the service of the body, and that is the secret of self-salvation.
A. Preface
1. The question for living as a new person (for conversion) and Luther's answer
1) Conversion of heart → ‘Love your neighbor’ with love and passion, that is, with a warm heart
2) Conversion of mind → change in world view and values, i.e., change in my judgment standard and life goal
3) Conversion of wallet → Change in relationship with neighbors
B. Body
1. Faith with works produces salvation (James 2:14)
2. Three Dimensions of Salvation
1) Salvation from the old man → Salvation from the past through Christ
2) Eschatological salvation → Salvation that leaves this world and goes before God (salvation that aims for the eternal world)
3) Present Salvation → Live the present day in a holy, truthful, progressive, better way, in spiritual happiness, and living gratefully
3. Salvation through the history of Israel’s Exodus from Egypt
1) Exodus incident: Salvation from the old man
2) Crossing the Jordan River and entering Canaan’s welfare: eschatological salvation
3) Living in the wilderness (tests and trials faced every day): Present salvation → Past grace, believing in the promise of grace to be given in the future, giving thanks in everything, praising God (self-salvation)
4. Criteria for evaluating Jewish personality
1) Kiss (bag: money bag): Don’t be a slave to money or money is the purpose of your life. Freedom from money → How do you make money? do you keep Do you use it?’
*A 20-year-old young man in Cheongju who found a 300-nyang money bag→Son Byung-hee, the national representative of the March 1st Movement
2) Course (cup: glass of wine): The person who gets drunk and regrets and repeats the life of drunkenness is a pitiful person
*When you get drunk, you break the gate, repair it, and fix it.
3) Cass (anger): ‘How do you manage your anger when it boils?’ is a problem → ‘You or I die’ suicide bombing is a global problem
5. Self-management for Christian character formation, mind control: Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God. (Verse 30) → Live according to the grace, direction, and inspiration of the Holy Spirit → Working diligently to help those in need with our own hands
1) Do not lie (verse 25).
(1) We belong to one body of Christ. → Characteristics of Christians (Basangists)
(2) Treat each other honestly: truth to yourself, truth to family members, truth to others
2) Control your anger (anger cas) (verses 26-27)
(1) Mandatory posture of the driver
(2) Even if you are angry, do not sin, and let go of your anger before the sun goes down. (Verse 26): Even if you are angry, end your anger today before the sun goes down and the next day → Do not give the devil a chance: “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who knows how to rule himself is better than he who conquers a city (rather than a mighty man)” (Proverbs 16:32 p. 927) 3) Working with a new heart Begin (verse 28): Abandon the selfishness (the theft) that exhausts all life abilities and rather live by helping those in need.
*The secret to not stealing: relief, good deeds, helping people in need
28 Stop stealing and start working with a new heart. Work hard with that hand and live your life helping those in need.

3) Be proactive
* Characteristics of successful people surveyed by the University of Southern California
(1) walking fast (2) sitting in the front seat or standing in the front seat (3) concentrating (4) always smiling: atmosphere is more important than food
C. Conclusion
1. Sanctification (holiness) does not come through meditation, but through service (serving).
1) Let's imitate an elementary school student crying because they were so happy after being wallpapered
2) ‘Everyone must explain to God the reason for the enjoyment that he did not enjoy out of all the permitted pleasures’ (Talmud).
3) In the beginning, Jesus said, “I came to serve” (Matthew 20:28 P.34) → Relief and service are the hallmarks of Christianity.
28 The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life for many.
4) Achieving self-salvation as a perfect Christian when serving
