Title: The Shepherd Entrusts Me to Him
Contents
The shepherd entrusts me to him.
John 10; 7-16.
There are many stories of sheep in the Bible. It is no exaggeration to say that the Old Testament is a book of sheep. Moses also met God while shepherding sheep. Lamb is the most used in Old Testament sacrifices.
Jesus also talked a lot about sheep.
There are many sheep in Israel. However, it is not easy to raise sheep because there are many desert areas and little grass. So lamb is expensive. I remember it at 60,000 won per pound. During my long stay in Israel, I rented a room and lived there. My wife cooked the rice.
We were on a long stay in Israel when Osama bin Laden blew up the plane that hijacked the American Twin Towers. No tourists came. The market was sluggish. All the economy was paralyzed.
Then I went to the market. When I stopped by the butcher and asked for a pound of lamb, the owner liked it so much. And said.
“The lamb has just arrived, so buy another one because it’s fresh.”
I told you to do that. When it comes to calculating the value of two roots, it means that three roots are truncated. It was too expensive, so I said I would take two pounds. The thing is, you can't do it by cutting it. I asked if you cut it or did I cut it, and asked for two pounds. Then it became a fight. The market was buzzing. When the Koreans and the owner of a butcher shop in Jerusalem heard loud noises coming and going, onlookers also gathered. We were fighting in English, and the person was frustrated, so we were fighting in Hebrew. I also fought in Korean.
When I think of Israeli sheep, it reminds me of the lambs fighting in the Jerusalem market.
Then I went to New Zealand.
New Zealand is a sheep's paradise. It has a population of 4 million people and 40 million sheep. It was 60,000 won each. It is such a beautiful place that it is said that New Zealand became New Zealand because it was heavy and the corner fell while God made heaven.
There I heard more about sheep.
Jesus said that we are the shepherd and we are the sheep. In John 10, Jesus describes the relationship between the sheep and the shepherd Jesus well.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but goes through another way is a thief and a robber, and he who enters through the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
The gatekeeper opens the door for him, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
If he goes ahead after he has laid out all his sheep, the sheep follow them because they know his voice, but because they do not know the voice of others, they do not follow others, but run away” (John 10:1-5).
“Jesus said again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the gate of the sheep. All who came before me were thieves and robbers, and the sheep did not listen.
I am the door; if anyone enters through me, he will be saved; The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come as a sheep.
that you may have life and have it more abundantly.
I am the good shepherd The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep, but the wager is not a shepherd, and the sheep are not his own.
He flees because he is a wager, and he does not look after the sheep, but I am the good shepherd.
I know my sheep and my sheep know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, so I lay down my life for the sheep.
And I have other sheep that are not of this fold, and I must lead them; they too will hear my voice and become one flock with one shepherd” (John 10; 7-16).
The Bible tells us that Jesus is the shepherd and we are the sheep. What does it mean to say that Jesus is our shepherd of our sheep?
I'll research it and post it a week ago.
