Text / Deuteronomy 32:15-27 Title / The Sin of Jeshurun
The song of Moses can be divided into three main parts. The part that sings God's love, the part where wrath will come because of betraying that love, and the part where Moses' death is added. Among them, the text is the part that talks about God's love and judgment and curses due to betrayal. Therefore, the content of the song also consists of two contradictory elements: Israel's rebellion and God's goodness, Israel's ingratitude and God's mercy. One word in particular, "Yeosu-run", shows this well. "Jeshurun" refers to God's people Israel. And it shows the identity of that life. But on the other hand, it points to the sin of Israel for not living that way.
1. Forsaken God (15~18).
2. A rebellious generation, living as children without truth (19-21).
3. He lived as a person worthy of God's wrath (22-27).
Therefore, it should not be mistaken. The mere term of chosen people should not be taken as an indulgence for them. God's love and justice are provided for all mankind. The genealogy of Jesus, which includes Gentile women such as Rahab and Ruth, shows this view of God well. Mix the standing water. They start mixing when they are satisfied with the fact that they are simply churchgoers. Therefore, it is necessary not only to be complacent with the fact that we attend church, but also to constantly strive for holiness.
