Title: The sin offering (Leviticus 04:3-12)
Contents I mentioned the sin offering briefly when dealing with the burnt offering before, but I didn't go into detail about it, so I'm going to think about the sin offering today. In short, it is a sacrifice that shows God's providence and plan to deal with the problem of sin of believers.
While we were still sinners, we were able to stand before God by the marvelous love that God proved for us through the death of Christ for us. We no longer stand before God as sinners, but as holy people, saints, and children of God's kingdom.
However, we cannot deny that the problem of sin is still before us. Although all our sins, past, present, and future, have been entrusted to Christ and atoned for by Christ taking upon Himself and shed His precious blood, Christians still have to fight the power of sin. The power of sin is strong and overwhelms us, so believers are experiencing the pain of falling again.
But when a believer commits a sin, he does not lose salvation. It does not mean that we lose the meaning of being a child of God. However, they experience the pain of being temporarily cut off from fellowship with God. So, God's power goes away, we live a life without grace, and salt loses its taste.
In such a time, God made it possible for believers to solve the problem of sin. Those are the sin offering and the trespass offering, and today we are thinking about the sin offering.
1. The four grades of the sin offering
There are four grades of people who should offer a sin offering.1) It deals with the problem of the priests' sins. (verse 3) Even the priests, who were religious leaders at that time, were always in danger and danger of committing sins. They too were sinning. We must see here that the priest also faces the problem of sin.
2) The sin problem of the entire congregation of Israel is being dealt with (13,14).
3) The problem of the sins of the patriarchs is being dealt with.(22,23) The patriarchs can be said to be social or political leaders.
4) It is the problem of common people's sins. (27,28)
The fact that the four types of people are mentioned as those who should offer the sin offering is a teaching that all people can sin (Romans 3:10).
The Priest and the Congregation's Sin
Perhaps the congregation of Israel was demanding and expecting at least the priests to be perfect. However, the Bible points out that priests are human and cannot be an exception in the matter of sin. (Hebrews 5:1-3)
Since the high priest is also drunk among men, he is emphasizing the fact that he is also a human being. We must not forget that the high priest is also a human being.
This also means that even today's leaders can have such a sin problem. However, the responsibility of this leader for his sins was far greater than that of the congregations. Because the priest's crimes do not stop there, but affect the whole people. Therefore, the people always need to pray for their leaders.
Let's look at verses 13 and 14. The possibility of transgression was not only for the priests but also for the entire congregation of Israel. In fact, we see that Israel complained to God as a group and committed a crime. They complained that there was no water and that they had food to eat. Through the temptation of Balaam, we see that Israel committed adultery in a group.
The sins of the patriarchs and commoners
Verse 22 - The sins of political leaders are always very probable. Corruption is the representative sin of modern politicians. It is also important to pray for our leaders. Because their crimes have a huge impact on the entire nation. For example, in the case of Korea, the issue of Yulgok corruption was a big buzz. I think that it is an act of transfer that a leader who is supposed to protect the country commits fraud in the purchase price for national defense, and it should be treated like a red one.

Section 7.28 There is a difference between the offerings of the rulers and the offerings of the common people. The chieftain gave a male goat, but the commoners gave a female goat. I do not know exactly what the meaning of this difference is, but I think it was because the image of the male, such as authority and power, matches the image of the ruler.
2. The work of the sin offering
First, the sacrifice is brought before the Lord at the door of the tent of meeting (verse 4). This teaches us that the solution to the problem of human sin is only possible in the presence of God. No one is truly free without a declaration that God does not condemn. As it is often quoted, Hemingway was a free man, and he could not be freed from the bondage of self-defense or his inner loneliness.
The solution to the problem of human sin is always possible only in the presence of God. That's why Augustine said in the Confessions that there was no comfort anywhere before he could find true peace in God.
Second, laying hands on the sacrifice and killing - Why do people put their hands on their hands and kill them (1) It is to identify themselves with the sacrifice. In other words, it is an act of equating my sin with the sin of the sacrifice and bearing my sin on the sacrifice. This shows that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. (2) The righteousness of God is imputed to me. By the sacrifice taking on death and the curse in my place, my sins are solved, and by God accepting the sacrifice, I am declared righteous by God.
Third, the blood of the sacrifice is sprinkled on the sanctuary7 No one can stand before God and no one can have fellowship with the holy God, but when this blood is sprung, a way is created between God and man. Hebrews 10:1

Fourth, burn the offerings with fire all the offerings are burned with fire. This shows that Jesus Christ thoroughly presented himself to God, and also shows that we must also offer ourselves thoroughly. Only then can we live again, live anew, and stand before God.
Fifth, burying the ashes of wealth - after burning the riches, bury the ashes It is brought out and buried as if it were burying a corpse. Jesus Christ, who suffered and was put to death outside the camp, was also buried under the ground.
If the burnt offering is dead, you are dead. Now buried in the grave. Now it must be firmly buried so that the old person does not come out. Whenever the old person comes out with the old personality in you, think that you are dead, and you have killed yourself and buried yourself deeply, and I hope you will overcome the temptations of sin and be guided by the Spirit of Christ to lead a victorious life.
