Subject: The sky is watching
Text: Psalm 33:13-15
As a child was walking down the street, he saw a lot of copper wire and junk on the side of the road. No matter how much I looked around, the owner was nowhere to be seen.
So, the child thought, "Okay, that's right. I'll have to take this and buy some shit." Then, holding it with a pounding chest, and walking a few steps, the child said, "Hey, leave it there!" and a thunderbolt from above.
The child looked all over the land, but did not notice the electrician looking down at him from the pole.
Guys, don't you think this kid is a really stupid kid?
However, many people live their lives doing foolish things like this. In other words, if you don't look at people or notice people, you do evil once or twice, thinking that you can do anything bad.
Of course, at first, doing such a thing can make your heart pound, your face swell, and it can be very awkward.
However, if no one stops them or blames them for their actions, they will do it casually later.
Moreover, if a friend next to you encourages you to do such a thing very well, you will do it out of heroism, but you will mistake yourself for being very just and brave.
And such an illusion not only drives one's own unhappiness, but also destroys the happiness of many people.
Ladies and gentlemen, too many people live our lives without realizing that God sees through every move, every action, every thought and heart of our lives.
But the Bible is clear. “The Lord looks from heaven and sees all men, and from his dwelling place he reduces all the inhabitants of the earth, and watches all their deeds” (Psalm 33:13-15).
Ladies and gentlemen, even at this hour, God is looking at us with eyes like flames. He is not only looking at our actions, but also the heart of our hearts. Of course, God is invisible to our eyes because he is a spirit and not a body. But he is clearly seeing.
The Bible says “Does he not see the one who made the eye?” (Psalm 94:9)
1. God sees our sins.
In 2 Kings 5, there is the story of Elisha and Naaman, who was stricken with leprosy.
General Naaman of the Syrian kingdom was so grateful that he was healed of leprosy and gave Elisha 10 talents of silver, 6,000 pieces of gold, and 10 sets of clothes as gifts, but Elisha did not take it.
So Naaman was forced to return to his country with a gift, but Gehazi, Elisha's servant, who was watching this scene, followed Naaman secretly with the gift.
And he said, "Our master suddenly came to us and told us to give him a talent of silver and two sets of clothes." Then he deceived him and took it and hid it in the house.
At this time, God's servant Elisha was a man of inspiration filled with the Holy Spirit, so he asked Gehazi, "Where are you from?"
Then Gehazi answered, "I'm not going anywhere."
Then Elisha said, "Didn't my spirit feel when the man got down from the chariot to meet you? How is it that now is the time to receive silver and clothes? Therefore the leprosy of Naaman will come upon you and will spread upon your descendants forever and ever." I did.
Then Gehazi withdrew from his presence, and leprosy broke out and became like snow.
In other words, because they did not keep their conscience in the sight of God and did not know how to live a life of truth, they received a terrible curse that extends to them and their descendants.
If he had known that God was watching his actions, every move, his heart and his body, and that punishment was inevitably followed, he would not have sinned so skillfully and bravely, but he knew that God was watching. Because they didn't know, they committed a sin and brought on their own misfortune.
Gentlemen, the eyes of men can deceive, but the eyes of God can never deceive. Aren't we living a life of faith knowing, acting, and living the invisible God as if it were visible?
In other words, Christians are people who live with the idea that God is watching over me anytime, anywhere.
We are people who believe that the Lord is with us even here and is watching us and me.
We see a man named Joseph, a man of faith.
When he was a slave in the house of General Potiphar in Egypt, he came as a young boy at first, but as he got older, he became an outstanding character.
At that time, Potiphar's wife fell in love with Joseph, showed kindness to him, and gave him hints, but Joseph remained silent and did his job.
Then one day Potiphar's wife begged Joseph to sleep with him and ran to him. At this time, Joseph fled, saying, "How can I do this great evil and sin against God?"
In other words, it is a right confession of faith, how can one commit a sin when God is looking at it.
However, Potiphar's wife, unaware of this fact, thought that it would be okay if she only cheated on her husband, so she took advantage of her husband's absence to continue to do evil against Joseph, so she grabs her clothes and runs.
But Joseph threw off his clothes and ran away. Of course, because of that incident, Joseph was falsely framed and went to jail for two years without moving, but God inspected everything and later raised Joseph as the prime minister of Egypt.
2. God sees our good deeds.
In Matthew 6, Jesus said:
"When you do good, do not do it to be seen by others." In other words, you must believe that God who sees in secret will reward you. When you do what is right in order to be seen by people, you are prone to hypocrisy and hypocrisy.
That is why Jesus said that when giving alms, do not blow the trumpet and do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
He also told us not to put on a gloomy face in order to be seen by people like hypocrites when we fast. They said they had already received all their prizes.
That's why Matthew 16:17 says, "When you fast, grease your head and wash your face, so that the fasting may not be seen by men, but to my Father who is in secret."
Everyone, please believe that when you do what is right before God who sees you in secret, all your intentions and good deeds will be rewarded by God.
Even if you do good deeds and are misunderstood and insulted by people, don't be discouraged.
Since God has seen all the circumstances from the beginning to the end, He will surely repay you in due time for what you have done sincerely and what you have done right.
There is a story like this among the famous fairy tales in Korea.
In a village lived a younger brother named Heungbu and an older brother named Nolbu. Heungbu was very kind and honest at heart, but somehow he lived in poverty.
On the other hand, Nolbu was a very mean and dishonest person. But for some reason, Nolbu lived happily as a rich man.
One day, seeing a swallow injured by falling from the eaves, Heungbu did a good job of caring for him with sincerity. The swallow gradually recovered health, moved to the southern country, and returned to Heungbu with pumpkin seeds as a gift.
When the pumpkin seeds were planted and opened at harvest time, all kinds of jewels poured out of the pumpkin.
The older brother Nolbu suddenly got a stomach ache when he heard the news that the younger brother Heungbu had become very rich because of the swallow.
And to become wealthy like Heungbu, he built a house under the eaves and purposely broke the leg of a swallow, who lives happily ever after with his hand. "Hey, how sick! I'll heal you!"
The swallow, who suffered such an absurd event, later moved to the southern country and came back to give pumpkin seeds to Nolbu.
Nolbu opened the pumpkin fruit with great anticipation, but from there all kinds of dirty and ferocious animals came out and bit Nolbu, making him miserable.
Gentlemen, we believe that we should not live like Nolbu, but do good and live like Heungbu. This is because God knows the heart of their hearts and has rewarded them according to what they sowed.
And even a mere beast paid for the good deeds of Heungbu, but I believe that God will repay us for the good deeds we have done while looking to God.
3. God sees the hidden motives of the heart.
Everyone, . He examines our beliefs and thoughts and places more importance on the hidden motives of our actions than the consequences of our actions.
In Genesis 6:5, it says, "The Lord saw that the iniquity of a man is great in the world, and that every plan of the thoughts of his heart is only evil always."
In 1 Samuel 16:7, he said, "I do not look like men; man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
Jesus also said, "Moses told you not to commit adultery, but I tell you, anyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery." It is the sin of murder if you just hate it."
In other words, the hidden motives of the heart are more important than the results of actions.
Ladies and gentlemen, God is looking at the hidden motives of our thoughts and hearts. No matter how plausible you are on the outside and how beautiful you are, if your heart and motives are not right, you will never be praised by God.
Our standing before God is not a matter of appearance, but the hidden motive of our heart. Therefore, the psalmist confesses:
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my will. See if there is any evil in me and lead me in the everlasting way" (Psalm 139:23-24).
It happened a while ago. A man was cleverly deceived by a neighbor he trusted very much. I later found out that the man was a scammer.
When he was so deceived, the man's heart simmered with anger and he could not bear it. But one day this man had a dream.
Another person he knows appears in a dream to the deceitful person, rebuking the deceitful person and yelling at him. "You are looking at the sky!"
But to those who say that, a real voice comes from heaven. "The sky is watching you too!"
Ladies and gentlemen, God is still looking at me and you in heaven today. That is why we trust in God, and in this way, confessions of thanks and praise to God come out.
“O Lord of heaven, I lift up my eyes to you” (Psalm 123:1).
“The heavens will declare their justice, for God is the Judge” (Psalm 50:6).
"Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his mercy endures forever" (Psalm 136:26).
