Title: The smooth path of life
Contents Bible text: Proverbs 5:1-23 Title: The smooth path of life
Proverbs 5:1-23.
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom, and incline your ear to my understanding. 2 Be sober, and let your lips guard knowledge. 3 For the harlot's lips drip honey, and her mouth is slippery than oil, 4 but the latter is bitter like wormwood. As sharp as a two-edged sword, 5 His feet go down to the extremities, His steps go to Sheol 6 He finds no smooth way to life, and his way is not secure,
7 Wherefore, my sons, listen to me, and do not forsake the words of my mouth. 8 Keep your way away from him, and do not go near the door of his house. 9 lest your honor be lost to others.
lest your days be taken away by the cruel, 10 fear that others will be satisfied with your wealth,
lest your toil be in a stranger's house.
You lament when your body is weak." 12 Saying, Why do I hate discipline?
Rebuke is light in my heart, 13 I do not heed the voice of my teacher, but to those who teach me
14 I fear that it will be said, “I have fallen into a great evil in the midst of a large crowd. 15 Drink water from your well and drink from your spring. 16 Why do you make your fountain overflow out of the house?”
Shall you let your ditch run down the street? 17 Let the water be yours alone, and do not share it with others. 18 Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth.
Be content with her bosom always, and always adore her love. 20 Why, my son, lust for a harlot?
How can you hold onto the breast of a foreign woman? 21 For man's ways are before the eyes of the LORD.
For he makes all his ways straight. 22 The wicked is caught in his iniquity, and is bound by the cords of his sins, 23 and he will die because he is not disciplined.
To become obscured by exceedingly foolishness,
* In Psalm 1, it is said that there are two ways in this world.
One is the way of the righteous, that is, the way of life.
The other is the way of the wicked, the way of death and the way of judgment.
What is the secret to a smooth path in life?
1. It is the way to forsake sin and avoid fornication.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 says, “Abandon every form of evil.”
2 Timothy 2:22 22 Also, avoid the lusts of youth and call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with them
2. Always live a life of grace.
According to 2 Corinthians 6:2
We cannot walk the path of righteousness without the grace of the Lord.
Hebrews 4:16-16 Therefore, let us receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Come boldly to the throne of grace that you may find it.
We conclude with Joshua 1:8.
8 Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night.
Observe and do all that is written in it.
Then your way will be smooth, and you will prosper.
