Title: The Sorrow of Faith

Bible: 2 Corinthians 7:5-11

Starting Point of the Word>>

This time, we will share the sermon with the title of “Saints who are grieved by their faith” through the words of the text.

I looked at some research and came up with this statistic.

Concerns and worries about what people are doing are 40% worried about things that are not there, 30% worrying about the past, 12% worrying about things I shouldn’t worry about, 10% worrying about things that are uncertain, 8% An investigation came out saying that this is an unavoidable concern.

However, there is a way to avoid the worries and worries of this world, and to entrust everything to God.

It is really foolish and foolish to call people's worries and anxieties.

It is the cares and worries of this world that nothing will happen just because I am anxious and anxious.

If we look at the words of John 14:1,

“Do not let your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me.”

Says.

We must entrust the sorrows of the world to God, and become believers who have the sorrows of faith for the glory of God.

If we look at verse 10 of today's text,

“Godly sorrow produces repentance that leads to salvation without regret, but worldly sorrow produces death.”

I say.

There are two types of sorrow spoken of in the Bible.

These are the things you should do and the things you shouldn't do.

The sorrow that should not be avoided, that is, the sorrow of the world, is a disease that leads to death and must not be done. The sorrow that should be done, that is, the sorrow that is according to God’s will, is to accomplish repentance that leads to salvation.

So, today, I am not going to talk about the worries we should avoid, but rather what kind of worries we should have.

When the Apostle Paul arrived in Macedonia on his missionary journey, he was physically unwell and had tribulation in every direction, strife on the outside, and fear on the inside.

At that time, Titus came to see Paul, and he was very comforted, and he said that he was glad to hear the news Titus had delivered.

Apostle Paul was comforted and rejoiced because he wrote and sent 1 Corinthians to the church in Corinth, and he strongly rebuked the wrongdoers of the Corinthian church for various wrongful religious practices such as sect problem, sacrament service, idols and circumcision.

After doing so, on the other hand, it would be good for them to hear these words, repent and correct their mistakes, but on the contrary, there was a concern in Paul that it should not be done if they disobey and disobey.

However, after hearing that the saints who read the letter that the apostle Paul sent for Titus to deliver the news of the church in Corinth repented of their sins, mourned, and longed for Paul, the apostle Paul said in verse 8:

“Therefore, I regretted that I troubled you with the letter, but now I do not regret it, knowing that the letter troubled you for a moment.

Verse 9 says,

“I rejoice now, not because I grieved you, but because your sorrow led you to repentance.

God's sorrow is truly beautiful, and it is the sorrow that pleases our God.

So, today, I would like to share with you through Paul's faith what it is like to be anxious and anxious about God's will without regret.

First, we must be concerned for the church.

According to 2 Corinthians 11:28,

“On the contrary, there are daily things that are pressed down within me, let alone other things, which I am concerned about for the sake of all the churches.”

The apostle Paul's concerns were not for his own security and happiness.

His concern was from the heart that loved Jesus and loved the saints.

Also, looking at the words of 2 Corinthians 11:23-29,

“I worked so hard, I was imprisoned, I was beaten countless times, and I almost died   I suffered many dangers, I toiled and struggled, I could not sleep, I was hungry, I was thirsty, I was cold and I was naked. There are pressing things within, which are concerns for the sake of all the churches.”

The Apostle Paul says:

What do you mean?

To say that Paul was concerned about the church means that he prayed and worried for the church as much as he did.

Because of his hard work, loyalty, and evangelism, he was imprisoned and tortured, overcame many obstacles to death, overcame many dangers, hunger, thirst, cold, and nakedness. It was.

Those who care for the church are those who please God.

Paul said in Philippians 4:6,

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

I did.

However, they say that there is one thing the saints should be concerned about, and that it is the concern for the church.

To love the church is to love Jesus.

Second, you should be concerned for your skeletal relatives.

According to Romans 9:1-3,

Says.

Paul was greatly moved by the Holy Spirit, and he had great sorrow for his brother and his kinsmen.

Paul's concern was not for their physical peace or happiness, but for the poor souls who lived apart from God to repent and return to God.

Like Paul, we should pray with sorrow for the bones and flesh and for our relatives for the sake of the Gentiles.

Our members should pray for our country and people.

We need to pray for mercy on this nation that God has blessed and enriched, but is rather corrupt and degenerate because of riches, and to forgive this people who worship idols and do things that God hates.

Jeremiah, a patriotic prophet, sees the sad reality of his country at the time and laments as follows.

“Sorry, sorrow, how can I find comfort? My heart is troubled. The harvest is past, the summer is over, and we are not saved.”

For what? In short, because of sin.

Please do not worry about not being able to pass on a legacy to our children, but be concerned about how to teach them to live in the right faith and trust that God will give us wisdom when we pray.

Third, we must be afraid of falling away from God.

According to Hebrews 3:12-19,

“Brothers, take heed, lest any of you harbor an evil heart in unbelief and fall from the living God.”

Says.

It is not about what we eat, wear, and live that we should be concerned about.

No worries about the future.

Our concern should be that we ourselves “fall away from the living God,” not among our believing brothers and sisters.

Death comes in a flash when you forget “being away”.

Because they are separated from the source of life.

Fish have to live in water.

A tree must be rooted in the ground to live.

Believers must be united with the Lord by faith in Jesus Christ.

But there are some who have left the Lord.

I was concerned about these people.

We must take good care of ourselves so that we do not leave the Lord.

It is because death is what separates us from the living God, the source of life.

If you read the Old Testament, the people of Israel, God's chosen people, experienced God's continuous wonders and miracles during their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, but they only tested and complained about God and moved away from God.

Likewise, today, even as our members receive abundant grace from the living God, their hearts must be hardened and they must be concerned about falling away from God.

According to 1 Corinthians 10:10-12,

“Do not grumble ye as some of them grumbled, and then perished with the destroyer. do it"

Says.

Be careful not to fall.

These words are to be careful lest you fall from the living God.

It falls from doubting, it falls from resentment, it falls from arrogance, and it falls from being stubborn.

We must fear that we will become disobedient and fall from the living God.

At the end of the speech>>

Organize your words.

We need to be grieving according to God's will.

What are you worried and worried about?

Does our God see and please him? Or is it something God hates?

I hope that the saints of our service will be saints who save lives by giving them sorrows that they will not regret and sorrows that lead to repentance.

From this time on, our worries and anxieties have been changed, and we do not have to worry about worldly things and do not be anxious about it. We want to live according to God's will and are grieving for the salvation of our bones and relatives. I hope you will give it to me. We pray in the name of the Lord that we will cast all our worries on the Lord and become saints who rejoice and give thanks in the Lord from now on.
