Title: The Sovereignty of God (1 Chronicles 29:11)
Contents Henry Meter compared the idea of God's sovereignty in his book 'Calvinism'. “Methodism focused on the salvation of sinners, Baptists focused on the mystery of regeneration, Lutheranism focused on Lee Sin-duk, Moravianism focused on the wounds of Christ, Greek Orthodox Christianity focused on the mystery of the Holy Spirit, and Romanism focused on the universality of the Church The Lord’s one always focuses on God’s thoughts.” We are thankful that we live our lives in trust in the fact that God is the Supreme and ultimate sovereign of all the worlds. Verse 11 says, “Your, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the triumph and the majesty; they are in heaven and on earth, and they are yours. Yours is the sovereignty, O LORD; you are exalted and head over all.” . The previous expression of truth is representative of the idea of God's sovereignty.
1. God's sovereignty refers to the freedom of God's will. God is a personal God. He is a willed God. God is always content and free in His will. This is different from creation. Humans often have a plan for something. However, they feel dissatisfied and anxious about their will. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “My thoughts are not your thoughts, saith the Lord, and my ways are not your ways, as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
2. It refers to the freedom of application of God. God is always free to do his will. People are not free to mean something and apply it according to its will. Even if people set a will, they are incompetent in applying it and do not know how much trial and error there is in the process of applying it. But God is free to do what He wills, and He is also free to apply what He wills. Therefore, he always works according to the wishes of his heart.
3. The result of God's will is freedom of fulfillment Day 1 light, firmament and land on day 2, dry land and vegetation on day 3, sun and moon on day 4, birds and fish on day 5 , created the beast on the 6th day and man at the end, saying, “It was so” and “it was good in God’s sight”.
4. Exercising God's Sovereignty
(1) It is also sovereign in salvation.
(2) The granting of wealth is also sovereign.
(3) It is also sovereign in showing mercy and grace. God is sovereign in this world. Because he is God, he creates, preserves, provides, and rules the world as he pleases with the power of a king. This is the freedom of God's own will. Therefore, he becomes “the ruler of the nations.” Therefore, he always says in 1 Timothy 6:15, “the one and only mighty, the King of kings and Lord of lords.” The sovereignty of God is a characteristic of the world of existence. This is the fundamental significance of God's existence. God's sovereignty is the key to history. The sovereignty of God is the interpreter of providence, the standard of the Bible, and the foundation of Christian theology.
5. David Praises God's Sovereignty
(1) He is a vast God. Broad does not mean that it is large in a straight line, but it means that it is large throughout. He is a great God from any side of the East, West, South and North. Regardless of any problem, any event, or any history, God is great.
(2) He is the God of power. God's power is a dunami, explosive. No one can stop the power of God. Humans cannot stop even a tsunami or typhoon. Who can resist the mighty power of God? Let's rely on God's power. God's power builds new things and destroys them.
(3) He is the God of glory. The glory of God is eternal glory. Our existence is to glorify God.
(4) He is the overcoming God. The Lord who broke the authority of death is with us today at this time. God is my God and I have become a child of God. Even a person who has given up on himself as a loser can be victorious with this faith alone. Even a person who despairs of being left behind in the race for survival can sing a song of victory if he unites with God's victory.
