I. Text Commentary
The text depicts the lives of the saints sharing their lives by dedicating all their materials with one heart and one will during the common life of the saints that occurred after the Pentecost of the Holy Spirit. The descent of the Holy Spirit was an event with multiple meanings. From a missional point of view, it was an event that united the saints into a mission community that spreads the gospel by arming the church with the power of the Holy Spirit (the fire of mission). It was an event that made it possible to proclaim (the revival of sermons), and from an ecclesiology point of view, it was an event of the advent of love that poured out God's love on the church. As a result, the saints completely gave up their love and at the same time had the same kind of caritas, and the content of this text is that they were embodied in their lives while living together in this spirit. Of course, it cannot be said that this common life is a form of life that can be equally applied in any era, but the community that shares Ji-soon's love is realized as a passion for saving souls outside and a passion for sharing inside, thereby fulfilling His will. The spirit of having to go is still scattered, but it has to continue unchangingly.
II. The community life and materiality of the saints
If so, what is the relationship between the members' communal life and material things, and what is the true view of materialism that the members should have?
C. True Poverty
-Not owning, but making poor by sharing: Indulging in material things has two consequences. The first is that they cannot afford to share with others, and the second is that they cause serious harm to their own souls. A person's virtuous mind does not depend on whether he possesses material things, but on whether he indulges in them. True poverty is being poor by giving and giving to others. Taking on the things that would not have been possible if they were owned by others, and letting everything flow to contribute to God's purpose of creation, this is the life of serving God, and true poverty.
Ⅲ. Clean heart and common life
A. Abandonment of greed: The spirit of sharing is directly related to a pure heart. Those who are pure in heart enjoy the happiness of seeing God. But greed is the greatest enemy of having a pure heart to see the invisible God. Wrong material life makes us prone to such greed, and furthermore, makes us want to use material things to satisfy our lusts. When you are poor and hungry, you faithfully serve God, but when you give money, how often do you see that your faith is betrayed? Only when you have a pure heart, you will love only God deeply, you will always see Him in your life, and you will enjoy a fulfilling life. He has given us everything to be free, but there must be moderation that comes from the love of God. The soul can never be beautiful with greed.
B. Unity through Jisoon's love: By doing so, the community can become one with Jisoon's love. If you have various greed for material things, the struggle for limited material will never end, and the unity of the saints will be destroyed. Everything was of Christ, but it was also of the world. He made people enjoy it, but he never lacked anything. This is what He wanted to see in the common life of the saints. Acquire much material in integrity, honesty, and fairness, and use it in a way that is worthwhile to His will. But first, be pure in heart. Even if there are material things, putting them in an unclean heart does not exalt His name, but only grieves God.
IV. Conclusion and application
A life of nameless and lightless service with the possessions the Lord has given us for the suffering members should become our daily routine. When we do, He will entrust us with more.
Sharing 1. Let's share the life we practiced after listening to last week's Word (respecting each other).
Sharing 2. Let's share the overall content of the sermon in Acts 4:32, and tell each other what we have come to deeply.
Sharing 3. What is the right attitude toward material life of believers?
Sharing 4. It is evangelical for us as children to properly enjoy the material things God has given us. But indulgence in it eventually leads to love and greed, what do you really need, and what does this mean?
Sharing 5. What is the meaning of true poverty, and how is a community of one heart and one accord that makes this spirit possible?
Sharing 6. Let's talk about one experience of sharing in our own lives.
