Title: The Suffering Servant/Isaiah 53:1-12
Contents Bible Reading: Isaiah 53:1-12
Subject: The Suffering Servant
Isaiah's prophecies about the suffering servant are closely related to the life of Christ, and especially to His work on the cross. He has a thorough understanding of the exact reason and consequences of Christ's suffering, and the text is about that. mentioning it. Christ Jesus came to this earth as a suffering servant, and our freedom is a gift of the Lord's suffering.
Jesus Christ is
1. He bore our sorrows and bore our sorrows. (Verse 4)
When we were hopeless sinners, He confirmed God's love for us by taking our sorrows and bearing our sorrows. He carried a burden that no one, let alone ourselves, could bear. Therefore, we should not be proud of ourselves like those who have become ourselves, but we should be self-aware and grateful.
2. His discipline and his scourgings heal us (v. 5)
Our healing, which was full of sin, was replaced by that pain and suffering.
We too must follow the Lord's footsteps on the way to the cross of Golgotha.
Our way to Golgotha is to do what pleases the Lord and to follow His will is to go the way of Golgotha.
3. The Lord has laid on him our iniquities. (verse 6)
Jesus, who had no sin, was offered as the atoning sacrifice on our behalf.
So he made us the righteousness of God in him.
You are justified by grace. We must be loyal with humility.
In remembrance of Your grace...
4. He showed the patience of a servant by patiently enduring hardship (v. 7).
Patience is essential to reach your destination. Even if you start well and meet all the conditions, you will not be able to reach your destination if you do not persevere. Therefore, the Bible teaches (Hebrews 10:36) that you need patience, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise.
A person who loves the Lord and who can devote himself properly is a person who knows how to quietly and quickly overcome the trials and tribulations of the Lord. He did not try to get out of the crisis without making an excuse or defending for him, even though he appeared in court without any guilt.
The reason is that he knew that his death on the cross for the redemption of mankind was God's will.
He showed us the proper attitude to be taken by the saints in times of persecution or hardship.
