Title: The Three Blessings of the Priest
Content Date 04.2.22 Weekday Daytime Hits 7 Preacher Pyo Se-cheol Text Message Numbers 6:24-25 Title The Three Great Blessings of the Priests “The Lord bless you and keep you, and may the Lord shine on you with his face and show you favor. want"
Today's text records the blessings that the priests gave for the people of Israel.
Therefore, today, through this text, I would like to examine how we, who have become royal priests in Jesus Christ today, can bless each other.
First, we can bless the other by saying, “May the Lord bless you and keep you.”
God is our keeper. In Psalm 121, God promises that He will neither sleep nor sleep, He will keep us, He will keep us from all tribulation, He will keep us going in and out from eternity to eternity.
Therefore, we should bless each other so that God can deliver us from all tribulation and temptation.
wise saying
1. Just as a house shakes when a pillar is weak, our life becomes humble when our will to God is weak. - R.W. Emerson
2. When Christ removes iniquity from the shoulder of the sinner, He places the yoke of obedience upon the neck of the sinner. - D.L. Moody
3. A great person is a person who does not lose the innocence of a child. - Mencius
4. People become more humble and wise only after going through hardships and losses. - British proverb
Yea---a person of great virtue (智德)
There is a saying that no matter how strong you are, you cannot become a leader without resourcefulness. There is an old saying, "A brave general cannot beat a wise general, and a wise general cannot beat a virtuous one." A general with wisdom like Admiral Yi Sun-sin won one hundred victories. The Bible says, “You are of God, and you are in Christ Jesus, who came from God to us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption, so that as it is written, He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:30-31). When we believe in Jesus and obey His Word, we hear the voice of truth from Him, and we not only receive righteousness and holiness, but also set ourselves free from the slavery of self and sin. Therefore, those who believe in Jesus are the head and not the tail, only above and not below (Deuteronomy 28:13).
Second, we can bless others by saying, “The Lord wants his face to shine upon you and to be gracious to you.”
The original Hebrew meaning of the word ‘grace’ is “the kindness and love that the high gives one-sidedly to the lowly.”
This grace is all the spiritual gifts that God prepared in Jesus Christ, who did not spare and gave his only Son for sinners who had no choice but to die for their sins and trespasses, and it signifies mercy and compassion toward human life.
Therefore, we must bless each other so that we may abide in this grace of God.
The priest's authority was given not only to the execution of the sacrifice but also to the authority of blessing toward Israel. The text is a record of the scene in which God delegates such blessings to the priests.
"Jehovah"---This may have been for the purpose of making it clear that it is the Lord who brings blessings to the people of Israel. And it is not entirely possible that it was simply used in the poetic rhyme of the benediction. However, from the point of view of redemption history, the fact that the name “Jehovah” is mentioned three times in this benediction must be related to the Triune God, who exists in three persons but works as one.
“Bless you”---This ‘blessing’ can be seen as the strength and wisdom Israel needs to live as God’s people. It can also be understood as material prosperity, many children, health and longevity.
Yes Tue---Wellington Story
This is the story of Arthur Wellington who defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo.
One day he went on a fox hunt. Wellington found the fox and drove the horse vigorously.
But the fox jumped over the fence and went into the farm.
There was a boy guarding the door on the farm. “Son, open the door. I must go in to catch the fox.”
Then the boy said, "I'm sorry, but you can't enter the farm. We purposely built this wall to protect our farm from hunters. Just go back.” He cut it off and refused.
Wellington went mad. “Yeah, man! this is my command Open the door quickly! I am General Wellington!”
But the boy answered calmly. "Is that so? Then I can't open it any more. How can someone as high as Your Excellency just make unreasonable demands regardless of the difficulties of the farmers?”
Wellington, speechless, said, "Yeah, you're right. The fox missed it, but he learned a valuable lesson today!”
Are you making unreasonable demands on someone with your authority and power?
Those who have full power should rather fear everything.
Third, we can bless others by saying, “The Lord turns his face toward you, and gives you peace.”
God grants peace to our souls by raising his face toward us and giving us special affection and attention.
This peace is the conclusion and essence of all the blessings that God bestows.
We are all children of God, called to peace.
Therefore, we should bless each other so that God guides our hearts and our lives with peace.
"I want to protect you"---The word 'to protect' here originally means 'to fence around with thorns'. Therefore, it means protection from all evil forces and even preservation from poverty, calamity, various diseases, and war.
"With his face shine upon you"---Jehovah's 'face' is an anthropomorphic expression that symbolizes his 'character' and whole person, and 'shine' is a weak and insignificant splendor of his glorious brilliance. It means being directed towards humans.
"Peace be granted"---'Peace' (Shalom) has various meanings such as 'safety', 'happiness', 'health', 'prosperity', 'peace', 'friendship', etc. It refers to a state of no discord, as well as a dynamic peace in which joy and joy of life spring up.
Now, through the words of verse 27, God promised, “Thus shall I bless the children of Israel in my name, and I will bless them.”
In the same way, we should live a blessed life in the Lord by blessing each other so that God protects us, gives us grace, and gives us peace in all things.
