Title: The Triune God / John 15:18-27

In Genesis 1:26, when God created man, he said, "God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, with the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and the cattle and the whole earth and creeping things on the earth. Let us rule everything."

In Genesis 11:7, when he saw the humans building the Tower of Babel, he said, "Come, let us go down there and confuse their language so that they cannot understand each other."

In Isaiah 6:8, when he saw Isaiah praying, he said, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?"

In Luke 3:22, when Jesus was baptized, he said, “The Holy Spirit descended on him in body like a dove, and a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘You are my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’” Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit say you were there.

In Matthew 28:19 Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

In 2 Corinthians 13:13 it says, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all."

The Bible speaks of God in the plural of us in the Old Testament, and specifically says that we are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in the New Testament.

The God we believe in is the Triune God of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Trinity is a systematic statement theologically speaking about the Christian doctrine of God.

What is the benefit of the doctrine of the Triune God in our life of faith?

And what does the Triune God really mean?

H2O, the chemical symbol of water, turns into ice when it is below 0 degrees Celsius, becomes liquid water when it exceeds 0 degrees Celsius, and turns into water vapor when it reaches 100 degrees Celsius by applying heat. The same substance changes its shape with temperature.

A man in the home is a father to his children, a husband to his wife, and a son to his parents. Depending on the relationship, you will have three different forms.

If you explain the Trinity in this way, it seems vaguely understandable, but in fact, it is not possible to say only the Triune God.

The doctrine of the Trinity is the most difficult and incomprehensible Christian doctrine in the world, and it is the doctrine of the Trinity that has caused the most heresies in the 2,000-year history of Christianity.

1. There is only one.

Among the doctrines of the Trinity, the most difficult to understand is hierarchy and superiority.

Just because a saint is a son does not mean that there is no difference in rank or ability than God the Father. Just because the Holy Spirit was sent by Jesus does not mean that he was subordinated to him.

The Triune God is one in nature and is equal in all power, glory, and works.

Verse 21 says, “But they will do all these things to you on the account of my name, because they do not know who sent me./ If I had not come and told them, there would have been no sin, but now I am excused for their sins. I can't," he said.

2. Relationships.

Central to the doctrine of the Trinity is the fact that there are three persons in one God. It is not easy to understand by itself. It has been conveyed and explained little by little by many theologians through their efforts and debates.

This is the inderdependence emphasized by the Fathers of Cappadocia. Interdependence is an expression of love.

It is not that many gods are united and depended on one another, but three persons of God are united and appear to us as one God of love.

To accomplish the Father's will, the Son died on the cross.

Therefore, we must learn the love of the Triune God.

We are born and exist as individuals, but when we unite with others to form one, we become like God's perfect image.

Verse 23 says, “He who hates Me also hates My Father.”

He is the Triune God who became one through interdependence. Therefore, to hate Jesus is to forsake God the Father, and we cannot love Jesus unless we love God the Father.

The church is a community that believes in the Triune God. Therefore, if people who are members of the church cannot unite in the church and cannot interdepend on each other for each other, they become a community far from God's will.

Just as He even took up the cross, there must be a life of denying oneself and bearing the cross for the sake of the community.

3. He works in life.

Our lives are so diverse. The way of life is different, and the way of thinking is inevitably different.

Last Friday, I toured the Ura Reproductive Village at Neulpurun University.

There, people just like us live on the top of the mountain, but their lifestyles are different. Their diet is completely raw. Do not eat food that goes through fire.

Their lives are just different from ours.

There are many other communities with different ways of living.

We have different temperaments and different ideas. Therefore, it is our life history that cannot be aligned with the thoughts of one's life.

God the Father created and provided the heavens and the earth.

God the Son redeemed us who were sinners.

The Holy Spirit is still in our midst today and guides us to live according to the will of God.

The Triune God is not alone in creation, redemption, and among us today, but in the presence of the Triune God.

Just as we asked to make man in our image, God the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit, together, created the heavens, the earth, and mankind, and when He took up the cross, God the Father was there and the Holy Spirit participated. Nevertheless, we have no choice but to distinguish its main work.

The Triune God is working in various human beings.

We pray to God the Father in dependence on Jesus the Son, and may the Holy Spirit be among us to help us.

That is why Jesus said in verse 26, “He will testify of me when the Counselor whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father.

We need to find the Holy Spirit to help us in our lives. So, may we be filled with the Holy Spirit and live by His help.

The Trinity doctrine is a concrete expression of a loving God.

The Bible says in 1 John 4:8, "God is love."

Love always needs its object. If God speaks to an object called mankind, He becomes a God of love. As the Triune God, the Father and the Son are showing love to us through the Holy Spirit today.

Therefore, the Triune God has infinite benefits for us and helps us to serve and depend on God.

Saints, He is one. you are in a relationship He works in our lives.

I pray that the love of God the Father, the redemptive love of Jesus Christ, and the love of the Holy Spirit who is with us and helps us will be revealed more abundantly among us today.
