Mark 9:2 And six days later, Jesus took only Peter, James, and John, and went by himself to a high mountain. However, in front of them, his appearance changed.
3 The clothes were so white that no laundryman in the world could make them so white.
4 And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and he spoke with Jesus.
5 So Peter said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good that we are here. We will make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah."
6 Peter did not know what to say, so he said this. Because the disciples were terrified.
7 Then a cloud arose and covered them. And there was a sound in the clouds. "This is my beloved son. Listen to him."
8 They suddenly looked around, but there was no one there, and only Jesus was with them.
9 As they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man rose from the dead.
May God's grace and peace be with you. Nice to meet you all. Let's say hello to the person next to us. God loves you. You are a child of God. God is pleased with you. God values you more than anything else in the world.
Now let me declare to myself this loudly. God loves me. I am a child of God. God is pleased with me. God values me more than anything in the world. Are you guys right? I hope you can say Amen by faith.
Today is the last Sunday of the Epiphany, also called the Sunday of the Change of the Mount. As shown in today's text, Jesus took Peter, James, and John to a high mountain and was transformed into a glorious figure. The Sunday of the Mount of Change is the Sunday that commemorates this event. This event on the Mount of Transfiguration is a very important turning point in the life of Jesus. Until then, Jesus had preached the gospel of the kingdom of God, healed the sick, and cast out demons.
