Title: The True Liberator (Hebrews 02:14-18)
“For children are of flesh and blood, and in one way he also belongs to flesh and blood, that through death he took away the power of death, the devil, and all those who were enslaved throughout life by the fear of death. To set you free.” The gist of these verses is that Jesus Christ came to this world as a servant of the city in order to set people free from the fear of being slaves to the devil, death, and sin.
August 15 is the national liberation day of our country. The historical significance and lesson of liberation are (1) restoration of lost sovereignty, (2) restoration of freedom from bondage, and (3) restoration of joy and happiness from misery and suffering. This is called liberation. I did. The true liberator, Jesus Christ, restored our lost sovereignty, freedom, and happiness.
Work. Realm of Liberation Where should our lives be liberated? In the past, the Israelites were liberated from Egypt, and our people from Japan. The Bible tells us that we must be liberated in three areas.
1. He said that we must be freed from the domination of the devil. Text 14-"He who took over the power of Sima, the devil, was removed". We humans have lost all human sovereignty, freedom, and happiness after failing at the devil early on, and have become slaves of this devil and have been ruled by him. What is the image of a poor human being under the control of this devil? (1) We will serve this devil instead of God. You become a secret person who serves idols and demons (2) Ethics and morals become blurred. It means that his appearance and behavior become ugly (3) He rejects and does not believe in Jesus Christ. In other words, we become people who reject Jesus and follow the devil. We must be freed from this devil before.
2. We must be freed from the power of death. Verse 15 - "And that he might release all those who were bound by the fear of death and were in bondage all their lives." After the failure of Adam, the father of mankind, who did not know death and death, human history turned into a history of death. The image of humanity that is governed by this power of death is (1) pessimistic and afraid of death (2) In order not to die, you become a person who can do anything (3) Finally, you become a person who goes down to hell and hell. We must be freed from the power and domination of death to win. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57
3. We must be set free from the power of sin. Verse 17 - "This was to become a merciful and faithful high priest in the work of God, that he might make atonement for the sins of the people." Disobeying God, breaking the law, and acting autonomously is itself a sin. Those who are still under the control of sin are (1) people who disobey God's laws (2) people who do not believe in God and (3) people who do not accept God's righteousness. We must be freed from the power and dominion of this evil.
this. Method of Liberation How did Jesus Christ, the true liberator, set us free?
1. It is said that the first Word took flesh and came into this world.
The events of John 1:1-2, John 3:16, Hebrews 2:14 are (1) the culmination of God's love (2) the fulfillment of the covenant and (3) the completion of salvation.
2. It is said that he became a priest. Hebrews 2:17, the incident of becoming a priest is: (1) the work of mediation between God and man, (2) the work of reconciliation between God and man, and (3) the work of making peace before God. It is the event of atonement for mankind.
3. He said that he experienced hardship.
Hebrews 2:18- Experiencing suffering means (1) the Lord being humbled (2) humiliated and (3) dying on the cross to shed His blood. The aspect of life is (1) resisting the devil and following Jesus Christ (2) singing triumphal toward death and moving into the world of resurrection and eternal life (3) hating and resisting sin and finding the path of truth and righteousness I walk.
