true Christian values
(James 1:9-11)
Values is a view of values in the Korean dictionary. It is the fundamental attitude of evaluation that human beings have toward the world including themselves and the events in them. is saying
It can be said that it is the point of view that you think is the most valuable. The formation of values during adolescence determines his life. Not only that, it is no exaggeration to say that the standard of life is here in a person's life. In particular, the values of the saints are even more important to a right life of faith. What do you see as the best value?
So today, we would like to share grace with you under the title of True Christian Values.
It seems that the Apostle James wrote the book of James, pointing out the most important problems he felt during his long pastoral life.
Among them, the first question is ‘testing’ (verses 2-4), the second question is ‘prayer’ (verses 5-8), and the third question seems to be a question of ‘values to be shared today’.
In today’s text 9-10, “Let the younger brother boast in his loftiness, and the richer brother in his humility.”--
In the New Translation of the Bible, it is written, "A lowly believer should boast that he is exalted, and a rich man should boast that he has humbled himself."
If the values do not change, this kind of history will not happen.
What is the world and what is the value of the world?
A lower brother (lower devotee) lives by holding onto his wounds because he is low, and a higher brother (rich) lives by showing off that he is wealthy.
But those who believe in God should not live like that.
You have to look backwards and live backwards. If you do not do this, you will become a person who lives with worldly values.
what a good name
We must become a church that looks backwards, a church that looks backwards from the world, and members who live backwards.
In other words, you must become a person who is not discouraged even if you do not have it, and is not proud even if you have it.
If we believe in Jesus and this change of values does not occur, our religious life cannot have a proper appearance.
If you say you believe in Jesus but still like the things of the old world, it cannot be seen as living a perfect life of faith.
Now, I would like to talk about the true values of the Bible.
If you say ‘good’ only in a good environment, how can you achieve a higher level of life of faith?
We should be able to say ‘good’ even in bad circumstances.
So, what is the true value of the Bible?
First, it is to live completely God-centered.
Living God-centered means living with the holy question, “What would Jesus do?”
Second, to place greater value on the spiritual and spiritual invisible
Third, it is a future-oriented view of the eternal rather than the instantaneous.
Fourth, we value selflessness and service rather than self-centeredness.
How wonderful would it be if we could live with those values?
But why should there be such a change in values?
The reason for this is at the end of verse 10.
“It passes by like the flowers of the grass.”
Life is like a flower in the grass. This is a Hebrew worldview.
Knowing this alone can make you a great philosopher.
In fact, philosophy is nothing special.
Philosophy is knowing the futility and futility of life.
Why is philosophy considered the best of all human sciences?
This is because it is a science that makes proud humans aware of their own futility.
However, there is a discipline higher than philosophy.
That is theology.
What does true theology teach?
They teach that life is futile, but life in God is not futile.
It teaches us that life is futile, but God is a God of hope.
So, if you learn theology well, you can live a life full of reward and happiness.
The last thing we need to know is that pride and pride are different.
There is one more thing to think about while reading today's text.
It is that everyone is equal.
We must not forget that we are all the same.
Even if there are other differences, we need wisdom to know that they are very small and forget the difference and live.
Even though the process is a little different, isn't the final path the same? It is wisdom to maximize this fact and live without ever forgetting it.
In a way, it seems like nihilism. But no, knowing that the final path is the same is a truth from a God-centered worldview.
There is a plus alpha that is obtained when you have such a worldview.
That is the tremendous change of values in Christ.
Look at verses 9-10 of the text once again.
“Let the younger brother boast in his loftiness, and the richer brother in his humility.”
What is this verse emphasizing?
The second word in this verse is “bragging.”
A person who does not know should have something to be proud of.
It is the same as living and dying saying that life itself is useless.
We should have something we really value: our real pride.
It is not arrogance to say that there is something to be proud of.
Pride and pride are two different things. There should be no pride, but there should be pride.
Even if you are rich, you should not have pride, and if you are poor, you should have pride.
Sometimes there are a lot of material things, but there are people who have a heart like a beggar.
It is heartbreaking and sad to see such people.
On the other hand, there are people who have a generous heart and live with pride even if they do not have material things, and there are people who boast of their lowliness even if they are rich. It is the most moving thing to see such people while serving in the ministry.
Such a man is a rich man, but a proud man who knows how to be humbled.
How can you be such a proud person?
because it goes back to its basic
In other words, it is because they do not think about matter or knowledge, but rather see and think about their fundamental appearance.
What does today's text say about the fundamental nature of human beings?
Let's look at verses 10-11 of the text.
“It passes by like the flowers of the grass; when the sun rises and a hot wind blows and dries up the grass, the flower falls and loses its beauty, and so will the rich perish in their deeds.”
Life is like grass and its movies are like flowers. It all falls apart and disappears. It is precisely from this serious knowledge that the true Christian values emerge.
Through such a value, a Christian can live in a very detached manner without fussing with a generous heart, and “Die! Live!” won't do it.
Sometimes, when it comes time for the college entrance exam, you can see that you like it as if you were going to go up to the sky and despair as if you were going to commit suicide when you failed.
There is no reason to do that.
Only in the distant future will we know which one is better.
In short, you have to wait and see.
The rich should be humbled and the lowly should be proud of their exaltation.
As brothers and sisters in Christ, we should enjoy the same values, the same pride, the same eschatological faith, and the same joy in Christ.
Then all that remains is Christ, and the grace we receive from Christ.
Here's a new worldview and values
Those who realize this and live will always be filled with God's grace.
