Title: The Ultimate Future of Israel / Isaiah 66

Content Israel's ultimate future

Isaiah 66

1. Sacrifice that has nothing to do with God (1-4)

① The omnipresence of God’s presence (1-2)

Isaiah first discusses the omnipresence of God before pointing out the fault of Israel's sacrifice. Heaven is God's throne, and the earth is God's footstool, and everything in this world is God's. This clearly points out that all areas of human life belong to God. Therefore, all areas of life must be governed by God.

God exhorts the poor in spirit and those who are contrite in spirit and tremble at the word of God.

② Point out the false sacrifices of the Israelites (3-4)

A formal sacrifice that lacks true obedience to God and leaves the heart is like idolatry. God judges those who practice such worship. Because they did not hear the voice of God, and they did evil before God.

2. God's Comfort (5-17)

① God's comfort for those who tremble because of the word (5-9)

Those who looked to God in Israel through God's words of comfort to those who trembled after hearing the word of God were hated by people and suffered hardship. But God will judge them. A cry of judgment begins to be heard in the city.

In particular, through the parable of the pregnant woman, Isaiah speaks of God's words of comfort to those who are suffering because of God. Just as a mother suffers when giving birth to a child, but rejoices after forgetting the pain of childbirth, it is clear that there is a better future for those who live according to God's will after suffering.

② Seeing Jerusalem and rejoicing (10-14)

God will give joy and joy to those who love Jerusalem, that is, to those who love God. God will make them overflow with peace like a river, and the glory of the nations like flowing streams, and He will comfort them Himself.

③ God’s judgment on the wicked (15-17)

On the other hand, the judgment of fire and sword will come on those who rebel against God. Those who worship idols and follow false prophets will perish.

3. A new age to come eschatologically (18-24)

① Prophecy of what will happen in Jerusalem, the mountain of God (18-21)

God will restore Jerusalem, the Holy Mountain, and call all people. The nations will serve the Lord and offer gifts, and God's servants will come out of them.

② True worship of God (22-24)

And those who have gathered on the mountain of the Lord will offer true worship and true worship.
