Title: The Unconquerable King/Daniel 4:34-37
King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, who was arrogant and opposed to God, was driven out by men and grazing like cattle and lived in the fields for 7 years. Seven years later, repentant Nebuchadnezzar confesses God as straight as any inspired prophet.
I. The Unconquerable King
God is the eternal Self-Existance of God. “Then I gave thanks to the Most High, and praised and worshiped the One who lives forever” (34). God has life in Himself (John 5:26) and He exists as He said to Moses. All things come from the Lord, come from the Lord, and return to the Lord. To him will be the glory forevermore (Romans 11:36).
Also, God is God's everlasting Dominion. “His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation” (34). God rules all things. He rules over nations, peoples, environments, individuals, heaven and earth, and even fallen angels (Heavenly Army.35). No one can disobey God's command (his hand cannot be withheld.35)
II. Mankind's Nothingness
In the sight of God, the nations are like a drop of water in a bucket of water and have no effect like dust in a scale (Isaiah 40:15). He treats you as someone who doesn't exist. Nimrod, Cyrus, Alexander, Caesar, Hitler, Mussolin, Daewongun, etc. What did they leave behind? It's just a grave. And the tomb will disappear after a thousand years.
God is great and we are like worms, incompetent and worthless. When I was chosen by God, when I was born again, I did nothing. Therefore, the 24 elders took off their crowns and placed them at the feet of the Lord to worship.
III. Practical lessons
How can you be one with God? I can't bring God down to me. Rather, we must conform to God's will. You must obey God. But God does not work alone. God's will is fulfilled when God works 100% and we humans also work 100%. We must also seek and see the first cause of everything.
Let me conclude.
We should humbly worship and praise God (37). Worship is the most momentous, the most urgent, and the most glorious. We must also admit that all of God's works are true and that his works are righteous. Then comes complete obedience. And we must accept and love God's sovereignty and rejoice that God's will has been done. Nebuchadnezzar was humbled by the sovereignty of God. We must surrender with gratitude and joy, without resentment. Because God is a King we cannot conquer.
