Title: The Universal Character of Salvation/Isaiah 56
The cosmic nature of salvation
Isaiah 56 Dawn
1. Human Response to the Coming of Salvation (1-2)
It calls for a human response as God's salvation draws near.
This is in line with the message of John the Baptist who cried out, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is a counterfeit.” As the attitude of life that welcomes salvation, Isaiah demands two things.
① Implementation of fairness and impartiality (1a)
Because the time of God's salvation is near, they are demanding more fairness and justice.
② Sabbath observance (1b-2)
And secondly, it emphasizes the observance of the Sabbath. The most common sin of the Israelites during the Babylonian captivity was the destruction of the Sabbath. Sabbath observance is to do justice and impartiality, and to keep the Sabbath completely to worship God, do good, and overcome evil.
2. The universal nature of salvation (3-8)
① Prohibition of discrimination against strangers and eunuchs (3)
It was one of the most discriminated groups at the time. But God forbids such discrimination.
② Gentiles and eunuchs as subjects of salvation (4-8)
God does not look for the target of salvation based on human appearance.
