Title: The Unforgivable Sin (2 Kings 21:1-26)
Content 1, Manasseh's sin 2, Amon's sin 3, the unforgivable sin
When the famous musician Mozart died, his funeral was not usually attended by close friends and even his wife.
His close acquaintances say that the reason was the cold weather that day and the pouring sleet, but it was the result of a sober life that was not seen as a virtue in his usual life.
How much better would it have been if his life had been as beautiful as his work?
There are many people who cannot live according to the environment as much as the good environment.
Also, there are many people who cannot live up to his natural talent.
This is especially true of Manasseh, the king of Judea and his son Amon, who appear in today's text.
1, Manasseh's sin Manasseh was born about 3 years after his father Hezekiah gave birth to health after giving birth to him.
So he ascended the throne at the age of 12.
Perhaps because he ascended to the throne at such a young age, he became the proudest king in Jewish history and also received the most bad reviews.
Verse 2 says, “He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord.” Verse 6, “He did many evil in the sight of the Lord God.”
Perhaps Manasseh was born to glorify God.
Also in verse 2, “He walked after the abominations of the Gentiles” and in verse 9, “He did more evil than the nations whom the LORD had destroyed.” 1) He “rebuilt the high places of idols that his father had destroyed.” It was an act of trampling on his father's honor.
As a believer, if one's father made a mistake, he should destroy them and build up what is right for God.
But Amon was the exact opposite of him.
2), he served other gods.
They set up idols of Molag, Baal, Ashtaroth, and the sun, moon, and stars.
And they sacrificed to it and worshiped and served it.
He even made idols by himself.(7)
3), He “made his son pass through the fire” (6) To make his son pass through the fire means that he did not offer his son to God, but to the god of Moloch.
4), he committed the crime of soliciting alcohol and magic. (6) Manasseh's political advisors ruled the country with the advice of the shopkeepers.
5), shed a lot of innocent blood.
Verse 16: “And Manasseh did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, and besides the sin that flooded Judah, he shed innocent blood exceedingly abundantly, and filled Jerusalem from one street to another.”
He was the person who caused the blood of many people who tried to live apart from idols.
It was King Amon, who dyed the whole country with blood from one end to the other.
2, Amon's sin Amon was the grandson of Hezekiah and the son of Manasseh, the notorious king of Judea.
This Amon was a worse king than his father Manasseh.
1), Amon's reign was very evil.
Verse 21, “And he walked in all the ways his father had walked, and served and worshiped the idol his father had served.”
Verse 22, “They have forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers, and have not walked in that way.”
His son Amon, who grew up seeing firsthand the iniquity of his father Manasseh, became a worse king than his father.
However, in 2 Chronicles 33:12-13, the last years of Manasseh, Amon's father, are recorded.
“When he was troubled, he prayed to the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers and prayed. God answered his prayer, and he heard his supplication, and he returned to Jerusalem to reign again. knew"
If we look at this verse, we see that Manasseh, who was evil, is returning to God with rain after suffering tribulation.
However, it is difficult for his son Amon to understand why his father became a more wicked king than his father even though he saw the return process through tribulation and beatings.
In 2 Chronicles 33:23, "This Amon did not humble himself before the LORD, as his father Manasseh did, and sinned all the more." ------------------------------ Manasseh reigned as long as 55 years.
However, his son Amon ascended to the throne at the age of 22 and reigned for only two years, and then he
