Title: The Unforgiven Sin/Matt 12:31-32

Content Unforgivable sin / Matthew 12:31-32

In the Old Testament, there was a sin that God hated the most. It was a sin of idolatry. Those who do not keep the first commandment are unbelievers at all. As an exception, when people who claim to serve God worshiped idols, God could not stand it.

The second commandment says that those who worship idols will pay for their sins from their fathers to their sons to the third and fourth generations. However, your sins of idolatry were not forever forgiven.

What sins are we sensitive to today? Previously, disloyalty to parents was considered the greatest sin and the unforgivable sinner.

Then there were times when the sin of murder seemed heavier. Perhaps now the situation has come that the economic criminals who have plunged this country into an economic disaster are the unforgivable sinners.

We may even think that some people are truly unforgivable. So, is there really a sin that God cannot forgive? The Lord forgave the heinous murderer on the cross.

He also forgave a woman caught in adultery. He also forgave Zacchaeus, the tax collector who lived by extorting other people's things. Even Peter, who had once denied the Lord, was forgiven.

However, in today's text, there are sins that cannot be forgiven. He says it is a sin to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. [Therefore, I tell you, all sins and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven; and if anyone speaks against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven; but if anyone speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will be forgiven, in this world and in the world to come. will not be forgiven.]

Also, in Mark 3:29, it says, “Whoever blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, but is put to eternal sin.” And in Luke 12:10, “If anyone speaks words against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him, but he blasphemes against the Holy Spirit.” Those who do will not be forgiven.]

Today, in order to find out what blaspheming the Holy Spirit is with you, I would like to share the grace by thinking about what the work of the Holy Spirit is, what the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is, and why we cannot get forgiveness.

1. First, let's think about what the Holy Spirit is doing.

The Triune God worked for the salvation of human life. God the Father made a master plan for the salvation of life and gave his only begotten Son.

The Son Jesus died on the cross for the sins of life. Then, what did God the Holy Spirit do? God the Holy Spirit is to introduce Jesus to the people who died on the cross and make them believe.

The Holy Spirit leads us to Jesus and introduces us, convinces us, and makes us believe that this is your Savior who died for you, so that we can see and believe in real life, as if the fact that He died on Calvary two thousand years ago had come true right now. is that

In other words, it is impossible for us to believe in the Jesus of 2,000 years ago as our Savior who is living and working now without the work of the Holy Spirit.

Then, there is no doubt that the Holy Spirit is working for the salvation of our lives. What kind of work is that and how will it work? The work of the Holy Spirit is to preach the gospel.

And he established the church to spread the gospel. The Holy Spirit began to pour out his power upon those who believed in Jesus in order to spread this good news to many people around the world.

In the sense of pouring out, the Bible expresses it as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Joel 2:28-29 says, “Afterward I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions, and then I will pour out my Spirit on the male and female servants. will give].

If you see it there, it is said that it will be poured out, but that is reflected in the baptism of the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:5 by saying [John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit].

So, what power did those who received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit receive? Acts 1:8 says [But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria to the ends of the earth.”] What is the power? That is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are well expressed in 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12: wisdom, knowledge, faith, power, healing, tongues, prophecy, interpretation of tongues, the gift of discernment of spirits, and service, authority, teaching, and almsgiving. , showing mercy, and governing.

character! Each gift is different. But the One who gave it and the purpose are one. All gifts are given by the Holy Spirit and their purpose is to spread the Gospel. In Acts 1:8, it is said that you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.

And according to 1 Corinthians 12:29-30, it is said that not all people receive the same gift. “Are all apostles or prophets? Are all teachers? Are all works of miracles? Do all have the gift of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Are all interpreters?”

Therefore, it would be wrong to say that we did not receive the Holy Spirit because we did not speak in tongues or that the doctrine of the Holy Spirit is different from ours. All these gifts were given by the Holy Spirit to spread the gospel.

What did those who received this gift become when they came together? became a church. The church is said to be the body of the Lord. The body has members, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are those members.

Then, what does a church with the gift of the Holy Spirit do? Of course, it is an organization that spreads the gospel.

Let's sort it out shall we? God the Father gave His only begotten Son. God the Son gave life. God the Holy Spirit came to preach the gospel of salvation.

The Holy Spirit poured out His power to each of us in order to spread the Gospel. It was the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Thus, people received the power of the Holy Spirit. That is the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The gift of the Holy Spirit was given to preach the gospel. There are many gifts of the Spirit, but they are given by one Spirit. All are beneficial gifts. Those who had that gift gathered and became a church. The church is the body of the Lord, and the body is a collection of members, and the members are the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Why did you establish the church? It is to spread the gospel. That's why we say "a church that doesn't preach the gospel is no longer a church".

2. Now, let's consider what the sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit is.

As for what it is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit, those of you who have listened to the work of the Holy Spirit will have already come to a conclusion.

That's right. The sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit is the sin of blaspheming the gospel. Because the work of the Holy Spirit is to preach the gospel.

Passively blaspheming the gospel means not receiving the gospel. It is rejecting the gospel. Refusal to believe in Jesus.

character! look. By the law, everyone was condemned. No one can be saved. So God gave His only begotten Son, Jesus, to save those who believe in Him.

That is why there is no other way to save those who reject Jesus. Those who reject the gospel are the same as rejecting salvation.

Also, actively blaspheming the gospel is not only not accepting the gospel, but also obstructing and persecuting the gospel to prevent it from being preached.

It is also blasphemy against the church established by the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel. Destroying, tearing, and destroying the church is hindering the work of the Holy Spirit.

The life of faith centered on the church becomes a life centered on the Lord. A life of faith centered on the church means a life of living for the gospel.

However, neglecting the church life and neglecting the duty to the church is the same as neglecting the ministry for the gospel.

We need to know this. It is the fact that Jesus Christ and the church are inseparable as one body, and that it is the Holy Spirit who established the church.

Therefore, it is against the Holy Spirit to divide, destroy, criticize, or persecute the church.

Our members must lead a God-centered, Bible-centered, and church-centered life of faith. If he deviated from this, he would be wrong if he performed any marvelous miracles.

No matter how much we emphasize Christ, the Holy Spirit, the church, the gospel, and evangelism, it is not enough. However, no matter how good evangelism is and how much emphasis is placed on it, if it deviates from the Bible, it is not.

It is right when it is carried out in the Word and centered on the church. Truly, those who have been filled with the Holy Spirit live according to the Word and die according to the Word. A person of the Holy Spirit is a person of faith who does not spare his life to keep the Word.

Such a person bears the fruit of the Holy Spirit. How can we know if we have received the Holy Spirit? It is said that a tree is known by its fruit. So are people.

By what do you know that you have received the Holy Spirit? That is to know by its fruit. What are the fruits of the Spirit? Galatians 5:22-23 says [But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control].

conclusion; Now let me conclude. In the name of the Lord, I pray that our members will become not only blasphemers of the Holy Spirit, but co-workers with the Holy Spirit, and become warriors of faith who spread the gospel and build up the church.
