Title: The Uproar in Jerusalem
Contents
Matthew 21:1-11 The commotion in Jerusalem
During the first Passover of Jesus’ public life, there was a commotion in the temple due to the first temple cleaning event (John 2:13). The second Passover (John 5:1) was the event of healing a 38-year-old man on the Sabbath at the pool of Bethesda. You argued with The third Passover was a series of commotion due to the Hosanna welcome ceremony at the time of entering the house, the 2nd temple cleaning, and the crucifixion and resurrection events. The events and lessons that Jesus showed while traveling to and from Galilee and Jerusalem several times left enough evidence to believe that Jesus was the Christ, but they were distrusted and stirred up.
What is commotion? It is ‘seio’, which means ‘to shake back and forth, to arouse, to drive into fear and worry’. In other words, a commotion is like an earthquake that shakes the land back and forth, a tsunami in which the raging sea attacks the land, and the fear of radioactive nuclear exposure. Just as Jerusalem was in turmoil at the time of the first coming of Jesus Christ (Matthew 2:3) due to the visit of the magi, the world will be in turmoil when He returns. How many Passion Sundays will I have? How many times will I have the rest of my hard week? What will happen after that?
jesus is the christ
Christ stands for the anointed office. 911 ambulances do not come randomly to anyone, but to anyone calling for help. You have to call for Christ to come. As a prophet, He teaches the way of life, the way of forgiveness and salvation, the way of eternal life, and the truth. As a priest, he removes obstacles to God and makes him reconciled to God. Through the reign and reign of Jesus, the King of righteousness, he enables us to be saved daily from the attacks of the enemy.
king riding a donkey
To fulfill the prophecy (Zechariah 9:9), Jesus rode on a colt and entered. Instead of the red carpet and four rows of honor guards, the sight of a group of chaos waving palm branches looked like a military game. However, through the prophet Zechariah, about 500 years ago (about 520 BC), the king of Zion had prophesied that he would come as the king of peace riding on a donkey (Zechariah 9:9). You must pay attention to Jesus entering the city on the colt of a donkey. But people despised him as the prophet Jesus of Nazareth. uh! Ah! Riding a donkey...where? Those who come to mind the prophecy of Zechariah must welcome and believe in Jesus.
Conditions and reactions of faith and unbelief (1 Corinthians 1:18, 21)
The way God saves people is by using the foolish method of the cross and evangelism and making people's wisdom foolish. Birth of the Virgin Mary/Isn't this the son of Joseph? (Luke 4:22) Where is your father? (John 8:19) 'Behold, there are no prophets born in Galilee' (John 7:52) Publicans and sinners 'Friend of the field' (Luke 7:34) Claims to be the Son of God/ (Matthew 27:43) He died on the cross/'He saved others, but he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel. Come down from the cross now, and we will I believe' (Matthew 27:42) Jesus' funeral (Matthew 27:68) The Roman governor and bodyguards, who are not lax, even confirmed the death and funeral of Jesus, so we cannot believe in the resurrection. Believers have many conditions to believe in Jesus, but when they see unbelievers who do not believe in Jesus as the Christ, they find it strange and frustrating. Sinful tax collectors, demons and sick people, Roman centurions, and dying robbers believed.
The result of those who distrusted and rejected the Son of God, the Savior of men, the Prince of Peace, the true prophet, and the true priest, was tragic.
Today, on Palm Sunday, we must sincerely accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and King, enjoy peace, and live faithfully for him.
