Title: The victor's life/Genesis 37:12-24

Contents

Joseph had a beautiful dream.

It was a dream of good harvest and blessing. He dreams of it, he likes it and sleeps

It was raging.

Nevertheless, the gap between that dream and reality was too great.

Compared to that beautiful and glorious dream, Joseph's reality was just that.

I did.

Rather, the tragedy of reality was increased because of the beautiful dream.

I. The Unchanging Reality of the Pasture (37:12-24)

After Joseph had the dream, the reality did not change.

The field of his life was still a ranch, and the reality of his life was still hard.

I did.

1. Joseph was still sent to the pasture (37:12-17)

37:12 [Israel said to Joseph, "Your brothers are sheep in Shechem.

do you not strike? I will send you to them.]

To this, Joseph gladly replied, [I will do it].

Joseph kept his dream and still obeyed his father.

It is precisely why Jacob's brothers went to Shechem to tend the flock.

I don't know, but for Jacob, Shechem was a place filled with all kinds of remorse.

is.

It was there that his daughter Dinah suffered an upheaval, and his sons died in a horrendous way.

It was the place where the line was made.

It was also a place where Jacob's family trembled with fear.

(Genesis 34) About 20 years have passed since then, but his fear must have been still there.

C. So he sent Joseph to Shechem to find out how his sons were doing.

All. (37:14)

The Shechem branch from Hebron (Mamre) was about 100 km long.

It was a wilderness road, and it was never easy for a 17-year-old boy to go.

I did.

Nevertheless, Joseph left immediately without any complaints. Joseph in Shechem

When he arrived, his brothers and his flock were nowhere to be seen. okay

So he [wandered in the fields].

Someone saw this and told him where the brothers had gone.

It was a place called Dothan, about 30 km away from Shechem.

Dothan is a double number of [dot], which means [well], and means [two wells].

All. Meanwhile, archaeologists have found settlements in the area at that time.

This proves that there were better pastures than here [Shechem].

Judging from these data, Joseph's brothers had more water and grass than Shechem.

It seems that the sheep were led to one dodan.

It is about 4 hours on foot to Dothan, so Joseph, who has already walked a long way,

The road was never an easy one.

However, Joseph did not give up and went all the way to Dothan, faithful to his mission.

I did.

Joseph was jealous and jealous of his brothers, but he loved them.

All. Also, Joseph was well aware of the concerns of his father Jacob, and he

I was worried.

That is why they [wandered in the fields] when their brothers were not seen in Shechem.

is.

Ham [wandered in the fields] shows the earnestness of Joseph wandering in search of his brothers.

that tells us

Joseph's steps were clearly commanded by Heavenly Father and

It can be said to be a foreshadowing of the appearance of Jesus Christ who has come.

2. Joseph was caught on the ranch. (Genesis 37:18-24)

1) Joseph fell into the murder plot of his brothers. (Genesis 37:18-20)

When the brothers saw Joseph coming to the ranch, they plotted a murder plot to kill him.

I did. Verse 18 says [they saw Joseph from a distance and plotted to kill him]

is recorded.

His usual jealousy and jealousy of Joseph made him plan a murder.

Contrary to the saying, “Whoever hates his brother wants to murder him” (1 John 3:15).

You can call it proof.

The brothers said of Joseph, [A dreamer is coming].

The word [dreamer] means [master of dreams] [master of dreams] [dreamer] [dreamer]

It was a mixture of ridicule, contempt and hatred.

And after killing Joseph [we shall see what the dream

Nira] said. In the end, the reason he wanted to kill Joseph was in a dream he had.

That is to say that it was ominous.

Therefore, the conspiracy of the brothers to kill Joseph is not just a murder.

It was not, but a direct challenge to God's revelation.

Joseph's brothers conspired and worked together on this matter.

That expression is clearly shown in verse 20. [Well... we... we

You will see].

We see this in Genesis 11 as well.

This is an expression of a provocative conspiracy against God.

The expression [Come,] shows how busy they were with their plotting evil.

It is an expression that shows whether or not you were enthusiastic.

2) Joseph was thrown into a pit (Genesis 37:21-24).

Reuben, the eldest of the brothers, was very sympathetic. he yo

As a means of saving Sheb, he said [let us not harm his life] (Gen.

37:21) said.

When Joseph arrived at the scene, his brothers rushed at him. Joseph wore

I took off my colored clothes. And grab him and throw him into a deep empty pit

I did. And the brothers sat down and ate.

It was a tragic scene that happened to the Abrahamic family.

We see through the text that a man is of Abraham, even though he is of fleshly descent.

Even descendants are taught once again that they are sinners by nature.

People in this world are like dreamers, dreamers, and dreamers.

There is a habit of not being able to live without a ruler.

In this way, the world holds and saves those who are burning with God's blessing, love, and justice.

Always accustomed to a plot to throw in a dung and kill.
