Title: The Victory / Job 23:10-17
Humans face various illusions and sufferings in the midst of living in the world. Unexpected things happen nationally or in society or the environment, causing difficulties. Business bankruptcy, job loss, illness, death, etc. As the saying goes, “Illness falls from the eyebrows.” Difficulties come without warning. The problem is, how you deal with that tribulation will determine your victory or defeat. We would like to think of Job's triumphant steps in the life of his tribulation.
He suffered a great tribulation that no one could bear. In one morning, 10 siblings died and turned into corpses, all their possessions were taken, and they groaned in a harsh environment that they could not handle, so they could drink alcohol and escape from reality for a while. Although he could speak extremely rebellious words, his faith in Jehovah God was unchanging and he completely relied on his great will and adapted to his circumstances. As the saying goes, "Fire makes pure gold, and tribulation makes perfect character." Even in difficult tribulations like flames, he brought victory in the end with his indomitable faith. He has triumphed over tribulation. He wants to find out how he won through the Word.
First, we won by living a life of absolute godliness.
Verse 11 "My feet followed his steps," that is, he thoroughly practiced a godly life of total dependence on God in the midst of tribulation. Although he innocently suffered tribulation comparable to death, his godly life of relying on God was consistent throughout. This is where we received God's mercy.
Second, we have won through a life of absolute sincerity.
Verse 12, “I have not disobeyed the commandment of his lips, but I have valued the word of his mouth more than a certain amount of food.” He received great blessings as a righteous man with his sincerity, and he received great blessings again through his faithful life in the midst of tribulation. What we need to do in the midst of this crisis is to live a faithful life. This will lead you to victory.
Third, we have won the life of absolute temperance.
Verse 11, “I have kept his ways, and have not turned aside” This is the saying of living uprightly. That is, he led a life of restraint. It means that they did not deviate from the orbit, but only walked toward the true life of faith. By walking in moderation, not drunkenness, licentiousness, or the crooked path of crime, you will eventually receive blessings.
The great evil of our people is that we are going wrong in all kinds of uncontrolled life of drunkenness and licentious corruption. Temperance life This is the way of blessing and the way of victory.
