Title: The Voice of the Living God
We who have the flesh cannot hear “the voice of the living God.” However, God said, “In the 24th, God spoke with man,” and that God speaks to those who seek it. From verse 22, the text says that we will have Moses as our mediator to hear the “voice of the living God” and act. Our mediator is Christ.
1. The mediator must deliver the message 26~27
(1) What the people feared 26- “Who has ever survived the voice of the living God who has a body?” Those with a corrupt heart and humanity who will fall and be destroyed are absolutely holy and just The fear of death is natural in the sight of God (Exodus 19:16). So, we asked Moses to be our mediator, and our mediator today is Jesus Christ. If we rely on his precious blood, we can confidently go to God (John 14:6, Ephesians 3:12, Hebrews 10:19). The Jews of that time feared God and lived by miracles, but we are saved by the grace of God and do not fear the “voice of the living God”.
(2) I will live as I have been told 27~ “You . . . hear all the words . . . and tell us . . .” The people feared “the voice of the living God” and could no longer hear it, so Moses If you go out and listen and tell the truth, you will obey. The people acknowledged that Moses was special. Therefore, they will be recognized as those who hear and deliver the word of God as a mediator between God and them (verse 28, Exod. 24:2~3). While Moses was the mediator of the people, our only true mediator is Jesus Christ (1 Tim. 2:5), according to the will of the Triune God before eternity (Ephesians 1:3-5; 2 Thessalonians 2:13). When Moses heard the “voice of the living God,” it was the law that he proclaimed to the people and promised blessings to those who keep it (29b, 33b). The Lord chooses those who will work and sets them up so that they bear fruit (John 15:16), but if you interfere with the work or hate those who work, you will not receive grace.
2. God Allowed 28-29.
(1) Acknowledgment of the people's request 28~ “The Lord . . . has heard the voice of your speech” God heard all the voices of the people speaking to Moses (verse 24~), but He heard them because he was alive, and the people You heard the voice of God because it was not simply a matter between Moses and the people, but because it had a direct relationship with God. Even when we pray to God today, if we give up our greed and ask for God's will, the “living God” will hear us. “I have heard the voice that you are speaking to, so it is true.” Through the mediator, God heard that he would listen to God's word and obey it, and he acknowledged that it was right. First of all, if we seek to live according to the will of God based on the rule and justification of God, we have the blessing of adding (Matthew 6:33).
(2) The commandment to serve with reverence 29th~ “Having always had such a heart, he feared me and kept all my commands.” Because he is the living God, he listens to them, not their words, but out of fear of God. “Such a heart” means that when they receive the Ten Commandments, they keep their promise to obey (verse 27, Exodus 20:19). Because God lives, we must keep what God wants, just as He always keeps His promises (Psalm 50:14), otherwise God requires it (Genesis 31:13).
(3) Desire for blessings on the people 29b~ “Blessed be them and their descendants forever.” God wants blessings and provides the means for them to be blessed. If their fear of God does not change and they live according to the Word, they and their descendants will receive blessings from God forever. It shows that the reason God gave the law was to give greater blessings, not to be bound by various ordinances. The content of the blessing God wants to give is “You will find life and find blessings, and your days will be long in the land that you have acquired.”
[Conclusion] Today is the 54th anniversary of the 6/25 above, but more precious than that, we prepared a text to hear “the voice of the living God. The Bible does not redeem us, but rather sets us free (John 8:32). Therefore, if we only live according to the gospel given through the Mediator Jesus, we will receive eternal blessings.
