(2009.08.23. Week) (Luke 10:25~37)
The human body starts as a fetus, is born as a baby, grows gradually, grows old, and eventually dies. This is sane.
Some people do not go through this process and die prematurely from an accident or disease.
Some people unjustly take their own lives - that's a sin.
Most people die of old age - this is the rationale.
Physical death cannot be denied or prevented by anyone.
Rich or poor, noble or celestial - everyone's path is the path of death.
This year, two former presidents of our country have died.
*Ex-President Roh Moo-hyun, who was a Buddhist, committed suicide.
*Ex-President Kim Dae-jung, who was a Christian (Old Catholic), died of old age after living to old age.
It is a certain way for a person's body to die once, but it is happiness when we gain eternal life after the body dies.
So many people want to know the way to eternal life.
Where is the way to eternal life? With what will you get eternal life?
1. Eternal life comes through faith.
After seeing Jesus, there was a person who wanted to know the true way to Jesus. It was Nicodemus.
Jesus taught the Jewish leader Nicodemus the way to eternal life.
*A person can go to heaven only after being born again - How can a person be born again? - You don't have to be born again, you just need to be born again of water and the Holy Spirit - I do not understand what you mean - What is being born again? Jesus taught Nicodemus, who did not understand.
* (John 3:16) - "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
Those who believe have eternal life. If you believe in Jesus, you will have eternal life. Eternal life comes through faith.
Eternal life is the result of faith. Eternal life is the fruit of faith.
2. Eternal life comes with love.
In today's text, another person appears asking Jesus for the secret of eternal life.
Nicodemus is a humble learner - but this man is proud to tempt Jesus.
*(10:25)-“A certain teacher of the law arose and tempted Jesus, saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” - This man is confident that he can gain eternal life by his works.
Jesus did not condemn such a proud person, and how did you, a teacher of the law, learn from the law? You asked. This man was a lawyer, so he answered confidently.
*(10:27)-"He answered and said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself." - A person who knows the law well.
*(10:28)-“Jesus said to him, “Your answer is right. Do this, and you will live.” - Jesus answered, Your answer is correct. You answered that you get it.
Eternal life comes with love. Love God and love your neighbor.
Aren't you a little confused now? - He said to Nicodemus that if you believe you will have eternal life, and to the teachers of the law, you will get eternal life through love. - What should you do? - Don't worry. This is not two answers. I will tell you about the relationship between eternal life and faith and love.
3. Love is evidence of faith.
It is true that eternal life is obtained through faith. It is also true that eternal life is obtained through love. The relationship can be explained by the relationship between the fruit and the tree and the seed.
Faith is the seed - Love is the tree that is the visible result of the invisible faith - Eternal life is the seed of faith - Love is the fruit of the tree.
Therefore, eternal life is the reward given to those who practice love by faith.
Love that is the way to eternal life taught in the Law, the love that Jesus acknowledged as the way to eternal life, and the love that is the result of faith - What kind of love should a person of faith practice?
(10:27) - "He answered and said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself."
1) Loving God is true faith.
Not all love gives eternal life - the love of sin and the love of the devil is not eternal life, nor is it the result of faith.
The love of those who believe in God, the love that will receive eternal life and go to heaven - is the love of God.
Love God - Love God with all your heart. Love God with all your life. Love God with all your might. Love God with all your heart. - Those who love God with all their heart, soul, strength, and mind are those who have true faith and will receive eternal life. - Stephen was a martyr who loved God and did not spare his life.
Love God, but love him with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind.
2) True faith is only when we love our neighbors.
The love of a person who will receive eternal life is not a love that ceases to be a love for God. He said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” - Love your neighbors. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
4. Who is your neighbor?
The command to love God is easy to understand, but He also tells us to love our neighbors. Who is your neighbor?
(10:29) - “The man asked Jesus to prove himself righteous, then who is my neighbor?” - This lawyer also asked that. Let's listen to Jesus' answer.
1) Don't wait for someone to be your neighbor.
Perhaps this lawyer would have loved his neighbor if he had a good neighbor. But it seems that he didn't have a good neighbor. So who is my neighbor? asked.
Yes - who is my good neighbor? Who will be my neighbor? If you look for it only with high expectations, you may not find a good neighbor for the rest of your life. - Do not wait for someone who will be a good neighbor to you.
2) Make neighbors and love them.
Jesus called the Good Samaritan a good neighbor. The Samaritan did not wait for someone to be his neighbor. A loving hand was first given to someone who needed his touch, to someone in need of his love.
I helped people who were being robbed and dying. Helped me through to the end. This man was not looking for someone to be his neighbor, but he became someone else's neighbor.
Dear saints, even now, there are many people who need your help. Find them and help them.
In particular, there are many people who have their souls robbed by the devil and die. They are people who do not know God.
As soon as you meet them, you have to pity them and help them.
*(10:34-35) - “He came near, poured oil and wine on his wounds, bound them up, put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn to take care of him. If it costs more, I will pay it back when I come back.”
*Please heal the souls wounded by the devil. *Please bring them to the church, the inn of the soul.
*Please take care of us to the end and save souls. - Evangelizing unbelievers is the greatest love of neighbor.
* I pray that you will love God and evangelize your neighbors - prove your faith - and enjoy the joy of eternal life.
